So, I work at a ship yard and the one time I got held up at a meeting which delayed me from putting my cover on the bike, one of the ships got sprayed and my new white plastics have a fine mist of red hull paint. I've tried buffing with wax, Plastix, Mothers plastic polish, and polishing compound with minimal results. That paint is some serious stuff, but I was parked about a 100 yards from the ship so I assumed it would come off fairly easily because it had time to dry a bit before landing on the bike... not! Sux big time! Anyway, if anyone has any tips or product recommendations, I'm open for suggestions before I start looking into another $600 for new plastics one of these days.

Clay bar should do the trick.

My wifes car got overspray on it when someone was spraying their stair rails and it came right off.

For sure try to clay and then do the three step Novus. Sorry to hear about the paint!

Wonder if a 3M headlight restore kit would do the trick. Small buffing disc for a drill with 3 grades of sandpaper and a foam pad/polishing compound. Worked wonders on a few deep scratches I had in my black plastics.

Thanks guys! I thought of both, but assumed the clay bar probably wouldn't work if a buffer didn't do a darn thing. I'll definitely try the clay bar and if that doesn't work, might try the headlight restore kit! I do love the clay bar though! Never tried it on plastic though, just car paint.

I'll let you know how it works!

Did you use an orbital or high speed buffer? I would think a high speed with rubbing compound then polishing would take it off. It took some frame paint over spray off of mine.

Just find the guy who sprayed it and have him finish the job. Call it the "S.S. Buell" and Commission it with a 40 :D

CGO's my brother, I can f'k with him like that...

[up][up][up][up][up][up] on the magic eraser. those things helped me pass a housing inspeciton in govt housing. they take everything off i got some oil based paint on the lenses of some oakleys and my wife used the sponge and it took it right off. i dont know whats in those things but they work and they work good

SS Buell... lol It's an ugly a$$ red though! The clay bar worked great! Removed about 99% of it.

Those clay bars are amazing! had overspray on my car and was told about the clay bar. It removed the overspray and the acid rain markings and really made my paint look good. Highly recommend them.

They are alot of work I clay my trucks once a year, the only downside is it takes two days. One to wash and clay and the second to buff some wax out!

You have peaked my interest. I have used a PPG wax striped on cars but not plastics.

When I worked in a body shop, I have used professional grade reducer to remove pin striping and other decals along with over-spray when someone didn't mask the car correctly. I don't see why it wouldn't work on the plastics on the bike if used sparingly. Hopefully Frank has the best solution for you!

A little more use of the clay, Plastix, and some Zymol and she is all purdy again. Thanks again for the tips and offers of assistance!
