painting a cr shock

Well I decided the red on the cr has to go.. I painted the front brake caliper black with some caliper paint. Looks 100% better IMO. But now the red shock stands out like a sore thumb. Has anyone painted or powder coated just the spring with success... I want either white or black.. thanks

just hit it with a red scuff pad and spray paint it white or black

I figured with the spring moving it would flex the paint and scratch it..

Nope. A car body expands & contracts & and flexs as much or more than the surface of a coil spring. We powder coat all the springs for our restoration cars with no problems & powder coat is stiffer than paint.
