Hi all.
Am considering painting my tank cover, etc. Are there any adhesion problems with the plastic that I should make the guy at the auto paint store aware of? What type of plastic are the parts made of?

Yes you can get this done professionally. Its golf ball plastic basically, pretty good stuff. I have the actual products & manufacturer used to prep if you like.
