Should I pay 95 clams to harley davidson in portland oregon to get a diagnostics checkup?? The 08 buell XB12R has been running rough lately, and the only thing I can think of that is causing it is a screwy ECM. What do you guys think??

Unless you can find another tech with Buell abilities and equipment... I just went through all that (trying to find someone ELSE to diag. because I didn't want to pay HD), and I ended up having to go to HD anyway.

how did it work out for you?? what was the process? what was your issue and how did they address it??

Hey Buellstache, I live 4 exits down from Paradise. I may have seen your bike a couple times. I might be able to help you diagnose your bike. I have ECM spy. And i doubt its a bad ECM. Not a common problem.

Call/text me if you want:

Onelogue You are the man!! You dont have a buell with red rims and a sweet sounding exhaust do you?? A guy with a red buell pulled into traffic next to me about a month ago and had a saweeeeet sounding exhuast, Said he ordered it through paradise. At any rate I have a 08 Buell XB12R so not sure if the ECM spy will work with my bike, but if you wouldnt mind taking the time to take a peak I would be forever in your debt. I would rather pay you or buy you some beers or something than pay a HD stealership. I will shoot you a text! I live in Eug, but I am almost always in portland on weekends visiting my girlfriend.

Yeah no worries. No payments needed, i just look forward to meeting fellow Buell riders. Not my bike, I have 2 amber and black firebolts.
My house is right off Hwy 217, so hit me up when you head this way next and ill see if i can find a problem before you are forced to go to HD. And i fi cant do it i know a great Buell mechanic in Salem area.

One!! That bike is MEAN!!! I look forward to meeting up with you this weekend! My guess is that I have an intake leak. Idle surge especially bad when its cold, runs a little rough (misses on one cylinder sometimes). Going to squirt a little brake cleaner up there and see if it revs or coughs. If thats the case I will replace the gaskets and then hopefully we can play with the A/F business.

Yeah just hit me up. I have to work Saturday and Sunday morning but ill find time to meet. If its miss firing, make sure you change your plugs. If you have nt done it within the last 5k miles that could be it. Plugs go bad quick on these bikes.

That bike is mean Stache!

If you guys have time we should go on a ride! I'll have my bike back together before the weekend.

You move RJ? Over on the Westside now?

Hey Michael (NwRider), long time no hear... Curious to what you are doing to your bike now. You got good taste so I'm sure it's awesome.
Yeah this weekend it's supposed to rain pretty hard so "rain check" haha ill ride in any temp of cold weather.

Ride safe Buellstache, when you come up this weekend.

Ill be haulin the batmobuell in my truck. she needs some fresh skin on the front wheel. new tire should be here friday before i head up to portland. what is the best place to get a tire put on??

Yea... I just looked at the forecast :(

I'm putting tassles on the grips and wrapping my seat in lime green alligator textured vinyl. I also replaced my horn with one that plays la bamba.

Actually I had to replace my rear rotor and pads. I'm at my wits end right now tho... Rotor bolts will not break free. Soaked em, impact drivered em, electric impact gunned em, heated em, just broke another bit. Haven't stripped em.... Yet! Sigh.

Sup Ken? If your gonna be in the Beaverton area.. D&S Cycle. Think they charged me $20 last time and did it while I waited. Small independent shop.

Might have to drill them out. :/ And dont soak any more of your bolts in thread lock

Ooooh.... Duh.... Penetrating oil would have worked better.

More heat and a little patience paid off! I am thinking the factory used jb weld instead of loctite.

;)

Yeah, no kidding! I ended-up buying 3 extra torx bits and tacking them to the heads with my wire-feed to get the buggers out.. I did NOT want to strip em', then have to drill & tap! [mad] ..talk about overkill with the threadlock!

Michael.. sooooo, finally got around to those rear brakes eh.. damn, I kinda liked watching the sparks fly! lol

Yea yea yea.... Rear brakes are only for stoplights on a hill.

But it had to be done.

If we get decent weather before next summer let's all get together for a ride.
