Well, about 45 minuets ago I was sitting at a stop sign, a electric truck was in front of me, I was bout a 3/4 of a car length behind him facing down a slight hill; he decides he wants to back up to take a good look at a utility pole and in the process basically runs me over.

The good-

Although the bike went down he didnt pin it at all or bend the forks etc.

The bike landed on my completely.

The bad-

Front fender is jacked.
Transparent orange flyscreen, trashed.

Anyone have a spare black fender laying around I can purchase.

Anyone have an orange clear flyscreen?

The guy paid me off, which was probably dumb, but he was gonna argue that i was too close to him.

holy crap dude it's a utilty company you could have got big money.
I hope you got atleast enough to cover new parts if needed.
guessing just a fender and flyscreen is 300 ish bucks
 
You can still take them to court, did he get a signature that you were involved in a crash and release him and company of reliablty?
Who said he gave you money, they have it on video? Did he scare you into taking the money?


You still in the good who's to say You dont wake up broke as hell, most don't feel effects till next day..

never, ever, ever, let someone leave the scene of an accident without calling the police. EVER.
 
I dont even have the guys name, he seemed to not want to tell me. I guess i could find out who he was by calling them and seeing who was working in my neighborhood that day.

I know he was gonna argue that i was to close to him, I wasnt, but it doesnt seem that it'd justify him backing into me.
I'm not really to aware of my options here, i am an artist, not a lawyer ha

I am feelin it right now tho ;(

I was under the impression that since i dont have the truck number, his name or contact info once he drove off my options were limited.
 
A power company truck backed over you? It pinned you under your bike? He bribed you and paid you off to split? Call one of those 1-(800) injury lawers. They will tell you what to do.

I'm pretty sure that means it's a 'hit and run', I'm sure the cops will figure out who it was. Even if he handed you money, if he didn't want to give you his name just tell the cops he was being difficult and coerced you into taking the money so he could leave. Luckily for my I HATE cars, and no one's going to make me feel bad about calling the cops the second their car touches me. He can't argue that you were too close behind him, because if he didn't see you behind him well enough to not hit you, he obviously can't argue that he saw you behind him well enough to say how close you were behind him.

I may look into it, i am just not the type of person who wants to take a guy out to the cleaners, now, the company on the other hand I wouldn't feel as bad about.
 
well he DID back into you. part of the job is to be aware of the public and to BE safe. this guy ****** up and ****** up BAD. what is worse than what he did, is what he did after the incident. i work in the utility industry (as well as another job i have) and accidents happen. but when they do, there is a protocol to follow, and paying off people to not call the police isnt part of it. he sounds like a complete shitbag.
 
on top of all of that,when you are in an accident, you go into shock even if you arent injured badly. the adrenlin and shock from the impact make your thought processes all screwed up. it is really hard to make correct decisions when that happens to you. quit ******* around and report it already.
 
If he didn't give you his info and paid you off, it sounds shady. Id report it just cuz if ur hurt it'll help wit bills lol. Good luck!
 
report this to the police immediately and then to the company. he bribbed you into taking money to not report this, add that to your report along with some of what others above have said. he made you take money and keep quite more than likely because he has had lots of on the job accidents with his vehicle and /or was drinking or on drugs and did not want to get tested for drugs & Alcohol , because most all companies drug test after any and all job accidents. and a lawyer can help you get what you deserve for this and someone like that guy doesnt need to be working for a company that deall with the public and electricity and safety, think of what else he would and could do , after he did what he did to you ! think if he did something like this to your sister mom or grandma or grandpa how would you like that. and in most states and cities it is ILLEGAL to drive in the wrong direction (forward or backwards) in a lane on a road or highway!!
 
I called the state police this morning, they are sending an officer out my way here in a few minuets.
I am hurtin pretty bad this morning.

I will admit i was intimidated after the whole incident, i was almost ran over by a utility truck.

I'm not sure what my options are gonna be, especially that the damage isnt that bad.

anyone have a spare black fender laying around>?

He backed into you, and bribed you. I would understand if it was some mere property damage but we are talking about your person here
