its such a joke that they do this....cant believe what our society is coming down to...really disturbs me

I know. There will be many kids I know of who will grow up to despise the government over this. The race community is huge throughout the nation and if these guys can't upgrade their bikes or sponsors can't offer them new equipment it's really going to screw up the community. Hopefully we can win this fight.

I dunno man. I understand the point, but banning kids from riding entirely? I grew up trail riding, and I had a dirt bike at my house. I'm still alive (obviously) and I never broke any bones. It made me a better rider today because of all the experience.

Maybe banning is a bit harsh, but I'm down for requiring tons of safety classes.

Now stupid people on the other hand should be banned from bikes.

I'm sorry Buell Cru, I'm not trying to debate at all, I'm just saying, for the responsible parents with responsible kids, this is gonna suck! [sad]

It has nothing to do with responsibility or not. It's the lead content in the motorcycles which is more ridiculous... It's not just screwing up a community, it will be the end of jobs and further snowballing of the economy...

That is correct Nub. I spoke with a couple dealers here in Idaho and they told me that it will cripple their family oriented business. Alot of people come in just after winter and purchase bikes as a family for the riding season. There are also a ton of people that come in just to purchase for their kids so the kids can race. On top of all that just think of the outstanding inventory that's been pulled from showroom floors.

Here is an email I received back from senator kerry of MA. Very automated response and seems to have nothng to do about motorcycles!!! haha

"Dear Mr. Foster:

Thank you for your letter on recent safety recalls of tainted food and consumer goods. I share your concerns and I appreciate this opportunity to respond.

It is the responsibility of the Food and Drug Administration to inspect and safeguard the nation's food supply, in order to prevent outbreaks of food-based illnesses and contain such outbreaks when they do occur.

To help the FDA accomplish these goals, the Senate has passed several measures to reinforce and improve the FDA, and I am proud to have been a sponsor of the FDA Revitalization Act, which strengthens the FDA's ability to inspect food and expand its notification process so that the public can learn sooner about outbreaks and recalls sooner.

Our people expect and deserve that their food supply and consumer products are safe. I strongly support the agencies responsible for inspecting food and goods, and when necessary, and I'm doing all I can to see that they have the authority and support they need to protect the American public.

Thank you for contacting me on this important subject.

Sincerely,
Edward M. Kennedy "

Thanks Buellysses, but I cant take all of the credit. I read that in a USA Today article. That also makes me think what other modes of transportation have lead in them. Cars, trucks, busses, planes, trains etc...should kids not be in any of them? [confused]
