I have some scuff marks on my airbox. Does anybody know what compounds to use or how to polish them?

I have tried MANY products for removing scratches and the best I've used is the novus available at you HD dealer. Get yourself a non rotary buffer so you dont burn the plastic. And be patient because its going to take a while!

I agree with dave, I use Novus polish all the time. You can get it in 3 different compounds, if you use them all you can get out almost any mark. start with the 3rd and work your way to the first. You'll notice a big difference in gloss and smoothness of your plastic, translucent or solid.

Just purchased Novus and I'm about to use it. Do I rub in the same direction as the scratches or against them? And can I use any wrag to rub with? ex: old t-shirt?

I would use a buffing pad in a circular motion. By hand you should expect to polish for over 15 minutes per spot to get best results. You can get a 6" Ryobi buffer from home depot for $20. It will cut polishing time to 1/4 of the time.

elbow grease + time will get the best results.

Otherwise spend the money and buy one of those cheap buffers from the store, but not a buffing wheel like states above.

Also a Buckle guard will do wonders too.

Ok thanks guys! I started buffing the spots by hand in a cirlcular motion and it worked great!! Scatches were not that extreme so i used good ol' elbow grease. The spots I rubbed look better than the best of my plastics so I am eventually gonna polish all my plastics to give it that new look again.
NOVUS is the 5h1t!! [up]
