That stuff is so fragile, if you so much as look at it the wrong way, it scratches/blemishes.

i havent had a problem. Its been on for a whole season and still looks fine. No problem washing the bike either. Im only using it on the forks though. It will not hold up to constant abrasion but on stuff that doesnt contact anything it works fine.

I plasti-dipped my wheels anthracite grey with the gloss over it, 4 coats each. Turned out amazing! It's been on for about 8 months and nearly 4,000 miles and it still looks great. Only had to touch up around the edge a little when I got a new rear tire put on.

i had plasti dip on my front fairing and front mud guard for almost 2 years now and not even a scratch on them.

it all depends on how clean the surface is when you spray it on and how many coats you apply.4-6 coats is a good number.

I'm not familiar with plasti-dip.... What is it??? Is it like paint??? How robust is the finish?

It sprays on like paint, but it's a flexible rubber. You can get it in quite a few colors - or of course paint over it. Just saw about 3-4 different shades at Home Depot. Finish is pretty tough. As posted above - 4k miles on a wheel with no wear.

Surface prep is a must as the rubber has to "adhere" to the work piece and not the dirt on it. It will clean off as if it were never there if you decide to change your mind later.

Oh - btw - I plasti-dipped the reflectors on my wife's car. Not a single chip/peel in daily usage, 10kmi+
