I have a wrecked xb12r that I am rebuilding, I already have many of the parts I need to complete the rebuild. My problem is I can not get the bike to run. Battery is new, all relays are good and all fuses are good. When I turn the key switch on and turn run switch to run I get the indicator lights and swing, but not the fuel pump or ecm light. But when I jump the green/red and grey wire at the diagnostics port, the fuel pump kicks on and the ecm light turns on and stays on for 4 seconds and then the light turns off and then immeditely turns back and stays on solid. I have also tried the jumper cable at pins 1 and 2 but I get nothing no lights and no fuel pump. I'm thinking bad ecm. Please give me any thoughts

P.S I'm looking to buy a upper fairing mount and a upper triple if anyone has one.

This sounds familiar... Something like this happened to me can't exactly remember what fixed it. I'm thinking it maybe the diodes(fuse looking) maybe pointed in the wrong direction. I'll keep thinking to see if anything else pops up.

I'm thinking bad ecm.
It's sounding like that may be it....hope it's not. Are all your wires in good condition, none of them were mashed/damaged in the wreck? Throw a multimeter on the positive & negative of the battery and set it to mA - it should read 0 if you don't have a short.

start with the battery(new or bad); check out the starter connections, gas in tank, all connections tight.

jumping the gn/r & gy wires causes the fuel pump to go hot. also the recieve data wire is hot when u jump them.

ur gray wire is ur ign/injectors/fuel pump.

check the right h-bar set-up for loose stuff.

no engine light on when turned to run in neutral...possible no ecm power...check to see if the relay controlled by the engine stop switch is grounded. it supplies power to the ECM. check ECM connections for contamiination or corrosion..
then check ECM for 12 volts by mutlimeter on ECM (black side)conector on(very outside two pins Pin 1(+) & Pin 2(-) for voltage present. >if yes bad ecm replace it. > (pin 1 provides power to the fuel pump, both fuel injectors, coil)
>>> if no check conituity to ground on pin2. if no contiuity > you have a open needs repaired... if yes > check ignition relay for 12 volts.if yes you have open between ECM and igniton relay.>> IF NO > from here i could go on into further detail step by step if needed , but a possible open here somewhere or bad ignition relay or bad handlebar switch assembly.

note: locate and repair open on BK wirng to ground from relay if on 05-07 years only .........
if on 03-04 stop and diagnose ignition interlock circuit. see starter interlock ..

I found it!! The outer housing to the grey plug on the ECM was broken off, so the grey plug was installed backwards because their was no stop from the housing to prevent the plug from being installed backwards. I turned the plug around and it started.
