Hey Guys I have had my Lightning about a year, and the air box has some areas on it that have "swirl" type marks. Its slightly faded/dull and you can see what appears to be "scratch" marks even though the air box is smooth to the touch. Im assuming when I clean it some times I rub to hard and this creates fine marks .

What do you guys use to buff our hazzyness and scratch marks? I used Novus #2 and hand polishing just appears to make it worse for me rofl. Lots of products out their say it bring back dull/faded colors on paint, but I have not seen allot of stuff for plastic. Espeshally non painted plastic.

that is the reason i thought about taking a piece of steel wool to all my plastics 2 months after i bought my bike. i have the swirls/scratches too.

i thought that the novus2 stuff was supposed to work really well for that ??

I have been applying it and every time I polish it out (and im doing it by hand) it appears to get some of the marks out but it leaves more "dullness" to it. Maybe Im just messing shit up.

same here on the cherry bomb, third day I owned it cleaned with novus left marks. just use glass cleaner and soft cloth now, but still not to my liking.

3M Machine Glaze is the stuff to use. You can pick it up at some auto parts stores or at an auto body supply store. It will bring it back to damn near new again.

That 3m stuff is ok to use on plastic, and will take away faded/dull/swirls?

Did you hand polish/buff it, or use an electronic buffer?

did you get the "3m imperial hand glaze" or the "3M Perfect-It Foam Polishing Pad Glaze (Dark Colors"

Turtle wax scratch and swirl remover is great too.
I have even used it to bring a dodgy helmet visor back.

What ever you use, Use a small amount on a soft cotton rag [flanette like pyjama material works best - not old cotton sheets]
Keep it moist and only do small areas at a time in a circular motion
Please please try a small area first to assure yourself that this does in fact work.

I am a Plexiiglass German factory trained acrylic fabricator.
I can restore just about any type of acrylic, gloss plastic you care to name.
