I have a 09' Bolt and would like to polish the brake/shifter levers. I know prep is everything. Is the soft aluminum finish(stock)paint or powder coated? If its powder coated how do you remove this stuff. I have removed plenty of paint but not this stuff. Any hints are appreciated. Buell on.

I used a palm dewalt sander with 80 grit sandpaper to get most of the paint off. Then switch to a 120 grit. You have to work at it a while to get all the clearcoat off. All of it. Then get a buffing wheel with aluminum rubbing compound. (sold at ace next to the buffing wheel) You can put the buffing wheel on a bench grinder or a angle grinder. (Drills do not work well) Then buff away!!! I fininshed off with a Meguires rim polish and an old t-shirt. My pics suck. My camera sucks but my results are fabulous. I will also polish your parts for you for an honest fee.

Jobe that polished look is amazing! I think i have something to do now until the weather gets nicer around here!

Here is another randomly polished part. I just drill out the rivets, sanded and polished the reverse side and used some self tapping stainless screws. Also polished header slightly ENJOY!!!
