Hi, have noticed a popping when rolling off the throttle, does not do it all the time, sounds like a small backfire, help,:D

i have an 03 xb9s w race ecm/race exhaust. popping on decel was always kind of annoying, but this year my first couple of rides i was over it.

the fix to your problem

now the thing runs WAY better and hardly any popping. read throught hat thread..super simple and nothing but great things from the ppl who have done it.

I've never heard of doing a breather re route for helping decel pop. What is happening is there is unburnt fuel igniting on its way out. This is caused by a rich spot in your fuel map. You can increase air by doing a K&N and airbox delete. The easiest fix is a dydno tune.

dave...i had the WORST decel popping prior to re-route.

now i have none. for me it was a fix that worked ideally.

Same for me also Dave. Before breather reroute the decel popping was really bad. After the reroute the popping is almost nonexistent.

I love the popping sound.. but is it actually good for our bike ?
Well it's a symptom of the bike not being tuned exactly to the mods. To correct, you'd need to check the air/fuel ratio and adjust your fueling accordingly - that would help a lot but you'd have to delve into the timing and such to completely cure it.

Edit: As far as "is it damaging", need to do some datalogging or dyno time to check Air/fuel ratio and see where it's at first.
