Ok, i like that popping sound after you close off the throttle, makes the muppits in their cars here in Vegas sit up and i understand it goes away when you do the re-breather.
What i would like to know, does that popping do any damage to the bike and anyway???
Just curious.
Cheers

I did the breather re-route and still get the popping. Others say it eliminates it, but didn't happen with mine. It does ride nicer though.....

My 12 actually pops more now with the mod. I wonder if its leaner or richer???

leaner. The recycled gases that were once sucked back into the intake are no longer being used, making the bike run a little bit leaner than before.

Popping on decel is from being too lean. And yes if it is running lean it will bring a premature end to your motor from the higher temps your motor runs at. Do you have aftermarket stuff like a K&N and Pipe.

Yes, have K&N and Drummer. Have also remapped the entire fuel tables using wb sensors, ecmspy and MLV software. Sounds like I just need to go in and "bump up" the numbers on the bottom row.

thanks!

Bumped up my fuel table counts (bottom row)and this has pretty much eliminated the popping. Breather mod does lean out the mixture. Also increased the idle counts 1 unit each front and rear to 71 front and 62 rear. Idles nicely right at 975 rpms.

I just bought a 2006 xb12scg for a unbelievable deal and went ahead and bought a jardine pipe for it

I dont wanna pay $200 for a race ecm and Im a network admin so im pretty good with computers can someone help me with the ecmspy thing, I wanna install the pipe but not if its gonna cause it to run like shite. any help is greatly appreciated, are there any buellers in NJ or Philly area that may be able to ride with when it gets warmer?

You can go ahead and install the pipe and do a TPS reset with ECMSpy. Your bike will be running a little lean and thats where you'll be getting into adjusting your fuel maps to compensate. You can learn most of the basics from the ECMSpy.com & Xoptiinside.com websites. The ECMSpy website has a fairly detailed manual for download. For the technical ECMSpy stuff, or any other issues you run into, post up, someone will help out.

Oh yeah, congrats on the purchase and welcome to the Forum.

thanks man I appreciate the welcome, after buying the jardine pipe and hearing from multiple people and different views on installing the pipe Im glad I can find some people to help me get the pipe on and running properly before spring, Im headed over to ECMspy andXoptiinside.com to learn a thing or two

thanks again

I have the D&D on my FB12R. I don't get a whole lot of popping on decel but would like a little more. I love the popping. Anyway to make it pop a little more without damage or performance loss?

hmmm FB12r? where is this new bike you speak of? are you a buell insider? lol jk. :p i love the popping too...those big american vtwins can take that popping, and screw it, if i heard it was bad for it, id still do it :D i love pullin up to a jap bike or tuner car and flick my wrist to make em jump :) one time i pulled into a parkin spot next to an older bmw at my local arbys (hate arbys) and made her pop and the guys alarm went off. haha, i dont know if my bike did that or not (might be a myth) but whatever made it go off, it was perfect timing and i felt like a total bad A lol.
