Ok, so I found out the guy that powder coated all my parts, had them chemical dipped to removed all the old stuff. Does anyone know if the chemical could have damaged the lining inside the tank/frame? Is there a lining inside our frames?

Yes there is a coating inside the tank.... And I doubt it removed the lining...
But, if you want to play it safe buy some fuel tank liner duck tape the fuel pump hole, filler and breather and shake it up in it...

I would be more concerned if they powdercoated over my vin number....

I just shined a light inside the pump hole and looks like some of the black coating is peeling a little, nice. They did powder coat the vin, but it is still easy to read.

Thanks squidbuellie, this kinda sux. told the guy and he felt bad about it. He didnt kmow chemical stripped would do that. First time he used it.

Damn, I hate buying stuff like this. There are so many products out there, and of course all the products have good and bad reviews. I like caswells because its suppose to be able to seal over other liners. But all the ones mentioned above look good too. KBS looks like a good also. Its just going to suck if I get any on my the outside of my frame and it damages the powder coat.

My bad, read it wrong. You can use the Caswell stuff over rust, not over another tank sealer. So it looks like I am in for a fun a job regardless of what brand I go with to get all the flaky old sealer out :(

Pretty sure I am screwed on this one. Every product says you must remove old sealer first to properly work. It is going to be impossible to slosh around a bunch of stripping chemicals inside the frame without it leaking out onto the outside of it and damaging the powder coat, DAMN!

I would remove the old sealer, and if it does ruin the powder coat, get the guy who screwed it up in the first place to re do it, or at least a hefty discount to re do it(pay for the powder?)

I like midget's solution. I'm actually quite certain that if it's a reputable shop, they'd be wiling to do that for you.

The guy is going to try to help me strip the sealer tomorrow. Will see how it goes from there. He has acetone and a few other chemicals to try. Hopefully all goes well.
