Hey

I`m new to the forum and have a question about my bike.
I just bought at sweet white Buell X1 2001.
It has a complete supertrapp exhaust, k&n air filter in the original airbox, race emc and K&N Power commander 3.

The question is:

The power commander has three buttons on top of it. A friend of mine noticed them and started pushing. Now the bike wont run smoothly. When i cruise along the motorway it almost stops sometimes.
Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance:)

Welcome to the forum. The best thing to do is to remove the power commander, take a medium to large hammer and hit it repeatedly. Then throw what's left in the garbage.

The mods you have should run great with the race ecm. I do not have any personal experience with a power commander but have heard nothing but bad things about them on x1s.

Post up a photo of your bike!

Hahahahahahahha nw, I'm in the break room at my work surrounded by 5 old women age 40-50 and just burst out laughing, of course they all looked at me, and explaining to them why I laughed wouldn't help so I just walked out.

I should make a "how to" video on how to properly remove and dispose of those little "never gonna run right" boxes.

Ever seen the "Will it blend?" videos?

But seriously torqeirb... Remove it ASAP and you will find your bike runs better than it did prior to your button pressing buddy did his thing.

I would also recommend getting ecmspy and the cable to connect to your ecm. Eventually you may want to play with the tune and until then its great to have for checking/clearing codes and resetting your TPS.

I do believe it WOULD blend... So imagine your power commander is an iPhone. I think the texture is close enough and this will solve your problem.

LOL- as NwRider said.... take the power commander off and throw it off a cliff! Really, Buells dont do well with power commanders. If you have the race ECM, thats all you need. If you need anything changed, get ECMSpy and a cable.

Thanks for the warm welcome and for quick answers. I will take a look and see if I can take it out. Will get back to you on that.

Anyways here is a bad picture of the bike. More will come:)

I have now taken the gas tank off to get access to the wires, but there i a problem.
I cant just take out the power commander. If I do I will have no wires going to eny of the sensors and stuff because they all go back to the power commander. i was hoping the wires to the race emc would be in there, but there is nothing there.

Please reply fast as I i working on it now:D

I have now gotten so far as to unplugg the commander and get almost all of it back to stock, but the o2 sensor is a bit different. what pin of the 4 is the one I need my signal from?
I will get a new sensor, but want to fix it temporary so i can ride the bike tomorrow. eny ideas?

holy crap I thought those things were plug in play like a piggyback ecu for a car . I hate to say it but I am of no help at this point hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will jump in . I have the wiring diagram for the whole bike I could email photos to you if that would help at all

The "shittyuslesscrappy" power commander is now removed from the bike and smasht to bits.

The report from this is a fantastic running bike with a much more comfortable torque curve, less vibration and a more then happy rider.

Thanks a lot for the reply`s. Made my day:D

Nice!!!! Yea... its worth smashing... I wouldnt feel right about selling it to a fellow Bueller. Now if its the same one for a Sportster... maaaaybe. ;)

The report from this is a fantastic running bike with a much more comfortable torque curve, less vibration and a more then happy rider.

Before I loaded the race map I was running a custom map a member shared with me. It ran kinda rough, coughed a little off idle, had no power at all below 4k-4500 but ran like a raped ape from 4 to redline. After I loaded the race map I immediately noticed how much smoother it ran. Blipping the throttle at 3k bounced the front end and set me back in the seat... it had never done that since I owned it! Smooth power all the way through the rpms. I find myself shifting less and playing in one gear more often now! Factory race map is a great tune and a good starting point for tuning.

I definitely lost some torque up top tho. Hopefully some tuning will get it back without taking away from the bottom end.

Glad you got it sorted out! Go ride the piss out of it this weekend. Get a data cable sorted out and I can point you toward everything else you will need.

Nice looking bike btw... Mine left the factory looking just like yours! If you manage to screw up yer tank cover... its the only white part I have left on my shelf!

Nice to have another tuber here!

Beautiful bike man. I would sell it instead of smashing it if it was me. Do they work with other bikes?
