First of all: Big thanks to the people of this forum for providing the information I needed before buying my Buell. I know I can count on you guys to help me out if something goes wrong with it. I'm super happy with my 2008 XB12S and I don't see myself replacing it anytime soon!
My name is Alexander, 32 years of age, live in Sweden where it is much to cold and slippery to be riding this time of year. I do miss the summer and the sound of a big twin in my ears as I ride along twisty swedish roads.
I am planning to spend some time with the Buell during the winter. Mostly maintenance stuff but I'm also planning a paint job. This is what she looks like now:
I'm not sure what the original color was, but the previous (first) owner has had the plastics replaced with Hero Blue XB9 covers at some point. The air filter cover is broken at one of the screw holes, so I figured I'd get a replacement and paint the plastics in matching colors. I'm not a huge fan of Hero Blue anyway, or the plastic cross for that matter. I have a few different ideas, but I'd love to hear yours. What color scheme would you choose for the plastics? I'm leaning towards something subtle like gun metal/something grey-brown metallic. Or maybe I should go for something more eye-catching like pearl white, but white looks much better with the gold wheels. I've also considered the same color as my car, a BMW color called Deep Sea Blue or something else entirely.
Also, I've been hearing a lot of good things about AMS Oil for the XB. I've found a swedish supplier. Is this the 20W-50 that you would recommend for engine + primary?
