Changed the oil and filter today, thought my 400ex was easy the bolt was a breeze!:D However I do have a few question that I'm hoping someone can answer
1. how do you fill up the primary, I know that i have to take off the inspection cover but if I have to fill up to the spring won't the oil spill out with the inspection plate off?[confused]
2. how often has anyone had to adjust their clutch cable. Just about to turn 5k on my bolt.

i adjust the cable often don't mess with the actuel clutch unless you have an issue is my thoughts.
the bike needs to be level and you fill it to the chain sprocket.
1 qt excatly for mine and i have done it twice

If you haven't already downloaded the service manual via the link at the top of the page, it's in there:

Fill through the inspection cover, to the level indicated in the pic, with the bike standing vertical, not on the sidestand. The level won't be high enough to come out the inspection cover.

thanks guys, I have downloaded the pdf but didn't see figure 1-21. but could be because i have the manual for 2003 Firebolt. will be putting in the Mobil 1 vtwin full-synthetic in the primary as well then.
RT did your clutch lever pull all the way to the bar after you adjusted the clutch line, i am new to this clutch adjustment my 93 zx7 had a hydro clutch on it.

yes the clutch cable is an 1/8th" a match book cover is perfect thickness if you dont have feeler gauges
between the lever and the mounting bracket just till you have slight drag and your golden :)
