I just bought a rear wave rotor for my xb12r. I can not get the bolts out of the stock rotor. The heads are almost stripped. Should I go to a dealer and have them try to remove them or what?? Any help appreciated.

Mine were tight, but I'd been warned to expect that. You can put some heat to it eith a hair dryer or heat gun (don't get it too hot or you'll damage the finish) and lean hard on the ratchet to keep the star bit from slipping. Hope that advice isn't too little too late.

Spray the bolt thread area with some penetrating oil then about 1hr later, give it a shot.

If you have the right size torx wrench the dealer wont be able to do anything you can do. They will just charge you extra since you will have to pay for their labor. Dont think they will just think they messed it up so they will have to pay. They will most likely see the bolts are damaged and say it wasnt their fault and you will have to pay anyway.

If you get them out make sure to buy new ones dont install the trashed ones, plus they are a one time use bolt. Also make sure to use loctite when installing the new ones.

I had to use the torch on my rim foe 2 of the bolts. What a BITCH. There was a long discussion on this a week or two ago. Just give er heck!!! On mine they just used too muck toc-tite.

use a slightly larger bit and pound it in with a hammer before you wrench on in. Lean into it but not too hard. You dont want to snap it off inside. If that haappens you will have to drill it out. Heat and torches do help.

If bolts are stripped use a come-along.
They work pretty damn good.
It's a reverse thread drill bit that will back out the bolt.

Here you go,Going to need a manual impact wrench . Sears or Harbor freight/Plus the bits, tap the impact with a medium hammer This has never failed me in 30 yrs.Be careful you will need the tool again I promise on some other areas as well. Every time you hit the tool it will slowly vibrate the bolt hope its not too messed up .The tool is reversible too! Good luck.[cool]
