here are two videos with my bike acting up. I changed the plugs to screaming eagle HD spark plugs and ripped a boot. I replaced it and the bike was running great, sorta. With the ripped boot the bike would misfire or run on one cylinder until high revs created a large enough spark for the other cylinder to fire (i think). But while trying to make my film for the contest it started acting up again. dropping revs while at idle causing me to rev a few times to get both cylinders to fire. Idk whats wrong but on top of this there is what sounds like a pinging noise coming from the left side of my engine. Thats what worries me, the bike runs great for the most part but im not sure if its always done it or whats going on. and with the first problem if it is the boots (plug boots) how can i make sure i get the boots all the way on (damn things are a bitch). I have 2 videos, the first is the pinging noise and the 2nd is the revs. With the second, it the end of the video im not giving it gas it jumps like that itself.

The videos are supposed to be embedded. :\

ok, 1 problem at a time...

1) pinging sound
check the tension of you primairy chain

then before you do anything else, report back. otherwise it will take twice as long to solve your problem(s) ;)

the primary chain is inside the primary case, its not the same one as the belt to your rear wheel

ok...again, 1 problem at a time...

problem 1, primairy chain
download the manual (top menu, second link) and do some reading ;)

problem 2, read the post above :p

The compensator bolt may have come loose Harley has a problem with this on a lot of their bikes, If it is coming from the primary/front it is most likely the problem. If it is loose then make sure to get a new bolt as these are not reused. Call Harley give them your vin and see if there is a recall on it.

As far as the plugs and plug wires I always put a little dielectric grease in both ends of the boots to make sure of good conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Which plug wire did you replace front or back?

it can be that the missfire is caused by the primairy not being on the correct tension...

so please, take it 1 problem at a time

No but it could be a multi problem case and that noise probably isn't from a misfire, misfires don't cause noise in the motor pre-ignition and detonation are causes for pinging or knocking, From the video the noise sounded as if it were coming from the front lower portion in the primary. Loki can you please confirm or dismiss that this is where it is coming from. I'm just trying to figure out if you have one or two issues. Also are you sure you got the plug wire on all of the way? It doesn't make sense to me that the plug wire you replaced was on the back cylinder but the noise from the video sounds as if it was coming from the front of the bike.

Ok guys, adjusted the tension and thought it fixed the problem. But when i was about to have a ride without the one clyinder going out, it start cutting out causing me to rev the bike to get it to start again.

Also when i tightened it the first time i guess it was to tight and sounded like a super charger (see video). So i loosened it to the point where the supercharger sound stopped or very faint.

Bike ran great till it got hot. Well warmed up. Only enough for the fan to turn on. :/ Whats wrong with my baby?

So new detail, starts acting up when it gets a certain temperature.

(also delta how did you embedded my videos?)

Do you not have a owners manual? It specifies how to tighten the chain. If you don't own one you can download one at the top of this site. That noise in the video definately doens't sound right. There was a guy earlier that was having the same problem as you are. Can't really recall what the fix was. To embed a video you just copy everything after the "=" sign. In your case it would be "lAg1Bqd_qmU". Paste that into the youtube pop up screen and it will embed it into your post.

I looked at the manual which i do have. I was alittle loose so i tightened it but it made the noise and was to tight. I loosened it up. felt and looked like the right specs to me.

ok, the problem was gone for a moment when the primairy was adjusted.

when you sent power to the primairy, it started again...
did you check your tension after that? if it's back to where it was before the adjustment, i think your tensioner is broken.

please check and report back

Did not gap the plugs and its still tight. Only happens when it gets hot. Will keep adjusting till we figure out what next to try.

hey i had an issue like this on my bike. the top of my rear cylinder's boot was bare and shorting against the wireing harness. i pulled the harness against the frame. the ticking you're hearing is the spark jumping.

just my opinion
