Hey guys I sent in my pipe for the 2nd time (different pipes different bikes) to Odie for modification to get that famous spec ops pipe. Last time it took 3 weeks from the day I sent it until I received it back in the mail. It has now been 6 weeks and I haven't heard anything from Odie and I've tried contacting him through e-mail and telephone call/voicemail but still no reply, does anyone know if he is still alive or if something bad had happened to him or has it taken this long if not longer for some of you all to receive your pipe back? I am worried just for the fact that there has been zero communication and it has taken WAY TOO LONG.

He doesn't respond until he has your pipe ready. I recently got mine (July) back from him... he is alive and you will probably get your pipe - he just doesn't respond... which I agree is HIGHLY annoying. I plan to go with Hawk for my other Buells.

Okay because I sent mine out on the 31st of July I'm just so antsy to get the pipe back because I need my bike for school and have only put 30miles on this xb12r.
He doesn't reply at all which makes it very difficult to stay in the know.
How long did it take you to get yours back?
How long has it taken most people here to get their pipe back? any instance like this occur ?

I've heard it can take a 6-8 weeks if you send your pipe in. I bought one he had ready to go so it took less time. You can try to call him but his VM is usually full...

I ordered a heat shield from him a while ago and it too some time to get it. I sent emails and called but no response. Eventually it came just as everyone said, unfortunately he's just one man and has kids so his customer service time is somewhat lacking.

I know you want to ride but you'll get your pipe

There really is 2 factors, I want to ride my Xb12r because I have barely put miles on it
AND
second I legitimately need it for school because a motorcycle is my primary/only means of commute, you all have at least given me more confidence and for that THANK YOU.
Any other replies or feedback would be great, kinda gives me something to look forward to during this waiting period haha

I feel terrible for ever doubting Odie, if anyone is looking into spec ops I highly recommend getting your pipe done. The hurricane had affected Odie, a completely unforeseen occurrence that he had more than made up for in the long run.:)

My two cents: Even with kids, sending an email with an update to a paying customer takes 2 seconds.

Honestly man, Odie more than made up for it so it is impossible to be upset with him over anything. I'd still recommend him to anyone/everyone.

So....did you get your pipe or what? how did he make up for it? let's see a pic.[confused]

I hope he and his family are OK and that the hurricane did not do too much damage but no; it's not impossible. I still think if you have a business you need to keep your customers updated.

Mr. Oldfield Expedited the pipe back to me, which was $90 and also sent a under the seat heat shield with a 50$bill wrapped inside of it to help with the gas money I had lost out on while using my car. Like I said, he made up for it. As a rider you should already know, Sh*t happens, he might not be the best at communicating but he does know how to treat a repeat customer. Plus my first ride today was way more epic than it could have ever been if I got the pipe on time :D

Looks beautiful. Glad it all worked out in the end. The only bad things I have heard are a real lack of communication, leaving the customer wondering where the process is going.

Yeah the communication isn't good but you can rely on the fact that you WILL receive your product.
Does anyone know of a good map download for the spec ops pipe by chance? My bike is running really hot and I was wondering if there is something I need to edit in order to make it run cooler.

Do you have a K&N filter? I have a few maps you could try - I'm running K&N + open airbox + Spec Ops. - Your bike is a 12 right?

I have a 12, everything is stock except the spec ops pipe. I wanted to get the k&n filter but I feared I would have to tune the bike, that idea is shot now. What program do I need to use to tune the bike and where do I get it ?

STOCK AIR FILTER AND STOCK AIRBOX

First pipe took only 3 weeks? That's pretty good for Odie! I had nothing but problems and cancelled my order about 4 years ago. Would never use him for anything again.

Oh haha - just noticed - you have a newer model. I think all the maps still work, however I don't know exactly what you need to connect as regular plain ECMSpy won't work. If I recall correctly.

Okay so I actually am running my bike now with a k&n filter and spec ops pipe but I do not have an open air box, the 09 air box does have cuts and slits all around it though so I'm assuming it may just be very close to the way your bike is running. Can you send me over the map that you have and I'll see how it runs then tweak it here and there. Also the ecm spy cord does work, however; I do have to use a different program, I use tunerpro rt
