In my area... the tow trucks woulda been there before the cops. Then MORE would've shown up. On the major hwys, it's MANDATORY towing by certain certified trucks... you CAN NOT load it into your own truck, or a friends, even if they are there. You can't even walk it to the next exit... on the freeway, required to be removed by Safe Clear towing... at least to the nearest parking lot (at $100 or something like that)

WIGGLE2 - very true. One man's trashed frame is another man's frame-off resto.

or turn it into one of those sweet buell bobbers that we all complain about :D

That sucks glad you ok. I have USAA and have no problems. You dont have to be a vet to get USAA just have to be kin to one. Like maybe your grandfather.[up]

Last December I had a guy sideswipe me on my way home from work and damage a blinker and the right passenger peg. Got the guys license plate and called the police...got him to confess and went through his insurance (geico) i contacted my company (prigressive) and they handled everything for me. Got way more than i needed but in the end my experience with progressive and geico have been very good. Ive been with tprogressive for almost 3 years.

Do the community a favor, Lunatic and do tell.

Here is how a "settlement value" is determined by each and every insurance company in north america. every other business day a claims dept. manager and his/her adjusters for that particular region gather for a staff meeting. at each meeting each adjuster submits every new recent claim they are assigned to. they have approx. 90 seconds to reach a settlement dollar amount for each claim. they rapidly discuss base details, quickly look at police report if any assigned to the claim, claimant past history with the specific company and insurance industry in general. in that amount of time a decision is rendered regarding maximum pay-out to satisfy the claim. that agreed upon amount is never and i mean never exceeded. if the claim can be settled for anything less than that designated amount.....and you'll love this part.....the ADJUSTER retains a small percentage of the savings as a commission. the balance of any savings over and above "the commission" is placed into a corporate pool which is used to pay out year end bonuses to claims management, adjusters, whomever. dirty business, isn't it? and now you know the rest of the story.

The key with insurance is to just keep bugging the living crap out of them and pushing them. Had an issue with USAA awhile back. Took me 6 months to fix it, but at the end of the day I had my Miata completely repainted, I just kept dialing them up and calling out all the BS they were throwing my way. Don't let them off the hook, keep hounding them.

Progressive is pretty terrible though. I had to change my address with them 6 times before it finally took. Also, it would be easy for these bikes to be undervalued by an insurance company. An adjuster that looked at my truck awhile back told me that if I'm getting insurance for a modified vehicle, or in this case an undervalued vehicle, I should get it through one of their subsidiaries that lets you tell them how much your vehicle is worth, and you pay the insurance based on that amount.

Insurance is out to get you if you don't really keep after them, and most people don't.

Ok, I must apologize. Progressive did leave me, but today when mr awesome guy Aaron asked what I wanted monetarily, I forwarded my ebr shopping cart link. He laughed and payed in full. Nice guy. Ebr 1190 big bore kit is now in transit....now to hit up sandro for my fairings
