So I scored ECMspy and the cable off ebay for $41.99, he said he'll send a disc that has everything I need for resets, mapping etc,

I'll have to see what I got, anything I should watch out for or should do before messing with the thing?
 
You couldve got the cable for like 25$ and the software and maps for free...
 
If the software is the same as mine the race maps for the 03 9 were jacked. I scored those from another source. I'll be data-logging soon though. Good fortune and have fun. It's a lot better than leavin the shop every night smellin like gas from jet swapping and plug chops. This kind of tuning is easier.;)
 
anything I should watch out for

yes there is. like saving all your eeprom info in appropriate file/files should you choose to remap.....and following correct procedural steps if performing tps reset. if you don't you'll be back on this forum posting a ton of "why won't bike idle" and "now bike won't start" topics.

So you did get into the tuning of things? I could be wrong, but I was thinking you weren't too much into that. It WOULD be nice if I had someone LOCAL to get some insight from!
 
It will be here tomorrow, but I won't be able to play with it for a few days, as soon as I get a chance I will tell ya all about it, I'm gonna start with just the tps reset then maybe the race map for my S to see what happens, might have to do some more exhaust chopping
 
Custom tuning is pretty daunting. Data collection through the stock O2 sensor isn't very good. Read the tuning guide if you haven't already.

Haha, yup!

Also, set out your goals prior to 'playing' with the maps. What are you trying to achieve? More low end? More high end? More linear curves? Eliminating a particular flat spot?

Then be prepared to spend some time adjusting one parameter at a time, and test each time to see if you are getting closer to your goal or not.
 
Really I just wanted the ECMspy for diagnosing and TPS reset, don't really plan on doing any tuning, the bike runs really good right now just a little rough on the idle, the idle seems a little low too(just under 1000).....also though about loading the race map so I can fully gut the exhaust(unless that's a bad idea) either way getting the cable and software was more for the "just in case" factor than anything

hey rick: no tuning abilities here. i just have ecmspy and shop computer to run diagnostics, trouble-shoot, set tps, that sort of thing. that's about the extent of my computer/ecm capabilities but if you want to bring your bike over sometime we can plug it in and have a look.
 
Ok, I got the ECMspy set up and loaded, didid my first TPS reset and it worked well, the bike starts easier and idles smoother...

...the disc included the complete ECMspy program, drivers, setup guides, tuning guides, and all maps for the S3,X1,XB9 & XB12...

Maps for the XB9 range from 2003-2007

Maps for the XB12 range from 2004-2007

I'm pretty happy with it so far, it's really easy to use and setup
 
Umm, I have a crazy question that's probably been answered a 1000 times, but if I want to load the race map do I have to make any changes to the EEPROM?
