Purchasing 09 Buell demo bike

So my local dealer has an 09 1125R in black that was used as a demo bike. It has roughly 700 miles, and they will be selling it as a new bike. They are asking $6500 for the bike, which I think is too much considering what I've seen brand new, non demo models going for. But it is the only one left anywhere around me, so let me know what you think is a fair price you would pay OTD for it considering the man. rebate and the fact that it is is used. Also, what are some things I can ask the dealer to do to the bike before taking it home, when are valve checks due? This will be my first Buell so any help would be appreciated.

I would try to get them at $5500 OTD.... $6000 is more likely for them to do.[smirk]

Whatever you are comfortable paying for the bike is essentially a good price. I am a little peeved I paid 11g for my Ulysses in July and now they go for half, but I love the bike and am happy with it. I did test drive an 1125CR and it was stupid silly fast and handled pretty good also. I had a 2000 X1 Lightning I bought new and put 14,000 evil miles on it and never had a lick of trouble out of it. Just keep your fluids fresh it will last a long time.

I would say $6500 OTD, is a far price. As long as the bike hasn't been layed down, you should be good.

Definitely try to get it for cheaper, but IMO the price is decent.

I went to a demo day a ton of years ago and asked if the demo bikes ever came up for sale and do they ever get crashed. The guy laughed at me and said "the get ALL get crashed". They put new bodywork on and go. I'd be REAL careful. Wayne

The free $ from Harley that helped dealers sell them for 1/2 off the new price is gone so $6500 isn't bad. Get them to throw in an ext warranty.

Apparently the incentives aren't gone, but smarter folks can confirm. If the incentives are still there, that's too much for a demo. You can pretty much bet that the break in wasn't done "by the book."

I only wish I hadn't paid $14,999.99 last year when they first became available around here! Just got a quote to trade on new Duc...$4k, guess I'll be riding an 1125 for a while longer. So consider what it will be worth in a year or two... Smart money buys something for less, or another manufacturer!

I know it's probably just me, but I'd be hard pressed to buy a demo ... Especially with 700 miles on it. So if that were my only choice, I'd squeeze all I could out of the OTD price. I opted for one out of the crate instead of the floor model with 24 miles on it. I'm funny like that!
