Hey guys, I put a down payment on my next bike: 2004 Firebolt XB12R, 14K miles, red w/gold rims. I paid $5000, maybe not the best deal out there, but it's in great condition, he's got EVERY reciept for it since he bought it new in 04. He just put on a Jardine RT1 exhaust, Race ECU (dyno tuned at dealer), new smoked windshield, and brand new Dunlop tires (forgot the specific name). I'll be picking it up either on Monday or Tuesday and I'll be sure to post pics!

Thanks Lefox!

Just wondering: If he already has the exhaust and ECM, can I add a K&N high flow filter w/o re-tuning the ECM?

hey Ryan watch out for that smoked windshield. it scratches VERY easy... just put one on this spring and you barely touch it and there is another scratch...

good luck and cant wait to see some pics

Changing the intake to a high flow causes more air to go into the motor, making it run lean, which is bad. A race ECM is a intake + exhaust ECM, but if you say it was retuned (from the dealer?) it may not be set up for such a thing. Normaly, dealers don't dyno tune our bikes. Harley doesn't give them the software.

The easiest solution you have is to have Xoptiinside.com tune it for you using ECMspy. You'd have to buy the cable ($50) download the program (free), copy your EEPROM and your AFV from your bikes ECM. trust me, it's a lot easier than it sounds. Then send that info through email to Mike at Xopti Inside and for $100, he should get the tuned map back to you the next day.

SO basically, its going to cost you about $210 for your bike to have a K&N.

Thanks Dave, I'll definately look into that! I'm not even sure I need the extra power :D I'm moving up from a CBR 600, the Buell will have more than enough torque for me...

Another question for ya'll, what kind of fuel economy are you getting? I've seen people saying anywhere from mid 40's to mid 50's depending on driving. Does having an aftermarket exhaust/race ecm affect MPG very much?

No prob Ryan. You may want to look into ECMspy regardless of whether you want extra power or not. The main purpose for tuning is to make sure you're not harming your motor. If you have a Race ECM without the right equipment, you could be doing damage. That ECM was designed for a race filter and a race pipe, not a D&D with a stock filter. Both are great things to have, but both could cause bad things if not done right. I don't know if you know the previous owner personally, but from my past experiences, you never should trust a previous owner. They're going to lie about something.

Here is what I think you should do. If that ECM was actually tuned, have it set back to factory RACE settings and sell it. Buy a stock ECM and have that tuned for your bike. Selling that Race ECM should cover all tuning costs and maybe put some extra in your pocket. The best part is, you'll be running great!

I have the full race kit K&N, ECM, and exhaust.

Just taking it easy I have gotten 52

Screwing around at 100+ and wheelies in town lowest is 38 so far

03fire: those are the numbers I wanna hear! My old CBR got 35 if I was lucky and babied it...

Welcome to the Forum Ryan! :D[up] You're going to love the bike. Post up with any questions or concerns you may have.

Steven: I will for sure! I've learned quite a bit in the 32 posts I've got so far, this place rocks!

Thanks guys, I'm now waiting for the dealer to fax a copy of the title to my bank. They said it takes 24-48 hours! How the heck does it take that long [confused]
Anyway, I'll be sure to post pics/vids!
