my wife and I are sick of n.e. winters and bad roads to ride on.
we were going to move to fl. but after looking at a few houses and the riding area it did not look so fun except the lack of snow!there was either nothing but straight roads or busy traffic.
we are now looking into s. carolina ,it looks a bit tropical and cheap to buy a home.
how is the riding there? whats the best places to start looking? hoping to find a balence of ocean, woods, race tracks, fun to ride and places to drive/race my cars and bikes.
any thoughts?

chevnut55, we moved here from upper virginia 4 years ago for new work places. oconee county is where we live, it's the upper most north west county in sc and they call it thye golden corner, it truely is. in expensive to live, gas is cheaper, housing is cheaper and we have awesome riding. we have 3 lakes in this county that are beautiful and many great roads go by them. I am 25 miutes from Georga and about the same to NC mountains. We are less than an hour from the Blue Ridge parkway yet we have mild winters, maybe one small snow a year and fall riding is as good as it gets! This place is a motorcycle haven which is an understatement. Do a google for Seneca SC or even Clemson SC. I am 3 minutes from Clemson and maybe 5 from Seneca. If you come down this way send me an email [email protected]. I am getting a Buell next Saturday but currently ride a HD VRSCDX and the wife and I travel on a 2011 FLHTK but the Buell is for work and back and just to play around on by myself. Looking forward to this Super TT for sure. Supposed to be here next Saturday. Anyway, let me know if your ever in the area, can show you some awesome riding areas. Mike

p.s. about 70 miles from Road Atlanta!

thanks mike. sounds like a great area to look into.
we need to set up another vacation to look around,we just used up this years on florida, not a complete waist of time but not as great as I thought.
is it at all tropical there in the n/w?
Im looking into central/north but the wife likes south/west.
riding is about done here for the year..1st snow storm just hit this weekend.

South Carolina is the ****!! Havnt been there since I was like 1, but still... my home state lol!!

Or come out to CALI!!!!

ca. would be perfect for me being a hot rod/ bike builder and my wifes sister lives near s/f, but I was told its going to break off and fall into the ocean.
I dont know why we are limiting ourselfs to the east coast..hmmm.

CHEVNUT, we are in no way tropical, I do have a small Palm tree in my front yard I planted but thought a 5 inch snow killed it last winter but it survived. That is a big snow for here though. I like our weather though here, we have seasons but not too drastic. It will get down in the 20's some during the winter but that is always short lived and the mountains nearby and the lakes right here close make for a great place. I am not from here but if I ever won a lottery I would buy a big house on our Lake Keowee with mountain views, that says a lot for how beautiful this part of SC is. Most if they won big money would leave where they are I would bet. You should spend a few days in the area before you move and see how you like it. I have lived in East Tennessee, North East Alabama, The Piedmont area (Greensboro) of North Carolina and the Shenandoah Valley section of Virginia and South Carolina is best by far and all those areas are nice, this is just better or at least the wife and I feel so.

s/c definitly sound like the best choice for us. we were just looking at the lake marion area, looks a bit pricey we have 130k to spend if we dont get a mortgauge..a bit more if I sell my cobra and 72 camaro street/auto x racer,I dont use them here much but I bet I will if I move.same with our 4 bikes.
