I've bought parts using PayPal before, but through a company. Not an individual. It's not that I don't trust the guy on the forum, but more of being overly cautious. He says to send the money as a "gift" through PayPal. If anybody wants to put their 2 cents in.....Well please do! haha

That's usually done to avoid paypal fees on his end. You'll end up paying the fees I believe. If anything else, calculate the 3% and send it normal..?

Well, check his rep and get good contact info (name, phone number, etc). If possible, pay for "goods," and pay the fees--you'll have more recourse this way.

If you're buying from one of the regular vendors on here, I wouldn't worry--I've paid for exhaust, levers, etc from people on here and have had nothing but pleasant experiences.

sending as a gift takes the paypal fees out on your end.

if you just send money, the fees get get taken out of the sellers end.

you could also calculate the % paypal takes out and add that to what you send to the potential seller if you don't feel comfortable sending as a gift.

my 2¢ :D

no problem, that's why i worded my post to be anonymous to the potential sale. that way others could also give their feedback.

It's all good man. I just sent the money and the extra should cover all fees. If not please let me know and I'll make it right.[up]
