on my 09 12r will i have to change out the rear shock? and what seat will be best to buy? the short or something else? im 5'9" and 170lbs

The rear shock should be able to stay while doing the tail swap. I would go with the lightning low seat if you are worried about height issues. Worse comes to worse you could get the low suspension and the shorter kickstand if height was an issue down the road

speaking from first hand experience: the SCG seat feels like a 4x4 with paper wrapped around it.

Me too, the scg seat is formed and contoured which makes it very comfy and won't let you slide backwards when riding aggressively.

I purchased a second scg seat to have gel inserts put in mainly for my wife when we're riding 2 up.

ok so thats another thing i was gonna ask about doubling up i think ill look for an scg seat then thanks guys. im stoked to do this to my bike!

I like the scg seat, compared to my r seat.
Hell yeah!
well he asked about the scg seat which I know about. I have never ridden an R before. I had no idea those bikes were so uncomfortable. No wonder everyone is making their firebolts into firelights. I must say I like the looks of a Lightningbolt way better. It is hard to believe anything worse than setting on an scg seat but I guess all you people can't be wrong.

Im not a huge fan of my R seat but it could be worse. Ill let you know what I think when I get an S tail on... there will be a write up :D

As soon as myself and another member get a chance to meet up. Should be real soon though as he'll be heading out of town for a few weeks.

You will want the shock res cradel of a lightning I don't think they are the same but the shock and res will work just fine. I prefer the scg seat for aggressive rides I use it 90% of the time but if my gf goes or I go for along ride I use the reg seat.
