so i have some questions and i know this has probably been answered but i only get internet on my phone since i dont have a computer and i was interested about knowing more on the ecm spy. i have an 04 xb12r and it idols rough and i read up on the thing and it says it helps with a whole bunch of shinanigans.but heres the question:
should i get one?
easy installation?
benefits?
any cons?
what is your advice from experiences?

your input would be greatly appreciated thanks guys

I would suppose that would depend on your particular situation. How is your bike set up? Does it have stock airbox and muffler or are either one aftermarket/race?

A Race ECM or re-mapped ECM can help with overall performance but it is not a cure all...you're bike could be running/idling poorly for a myriad of reasons...everything from fouled plugs to needing a TPS reset to having crappy gas in the tank. Has the bike been sitting for a while? Did you just recently fill it up at a backwoods gas station? When was the last time it was serviced?

Throw out a little more info and I am sure someone will be able to help!

thanks man

i fill it up with super, it hasnt been sitting at all the past owner said and it runs fine. the previous owner had a jardine exhaust put on but he said he would have done a ecm on it cause thats what he was recommended to put onto it. it runs fine no real problems but during idol sometimes its rough warming up and he said he would put an ecm remap on it but he didnt have the money. what do you think?

Let me make sure I understand what you are saying...the previous owner did or did not remap the ecm?

I would say doing a tps reset might be a good idea then adjust the idle to 1000ish and see if that helps.

he did not do it but he recommended it. sorry i'm new to the whole bike mechanical world. how do you do that tps reset?

I take it that you don't have ECMspy available to you? If not, the best way you are going to have available to reset your TPS is go to the dealer...or I can try and send you the program and tuning guide via email.. you will, however, need the associated cable to access your ECM...

The program and cable run about $40-50 on EBay and are well worth the investment...

I hope this helps...let me know if you need any other info...

Jon
