Not sure if anyone has tried this yet, but I ordered a completed master cylinder off of and 2010 R6. It bolted right up with no modification. Great up grade, one finger braking for the most part. Still need to fix the reservoir bracket and get a new reservoir, not to fawned of the yellow pee color. Lol.

[up][up][up]

where did you get the set up from? looking at doing the same and using an aluminum res with sight glass with the drain at the bottom, not the side.

I got it off of a crashed R6, through M.I.D.S cycle salvage in Sumter S.C. I got it for $100.00 shipped.

I would use the newer gen yamaha r6 and r1 master cylinders because they are made by brembo. The rest of the manufacturers use nissins. This is a popular upgrade among road racers, and the brake switch bolts right up!

The R6 is a 16mm, vs the buell which is probably closer to a 14mm. The pivot point is better giving you more leverage on the pull.

It's possible you can get someone like avid to possibly do a mismatch set like they do for the 1125r brake setup

For anyone interested in this upgrade, pretty much ANY modern sportbike master cylinder off around 05-newer R6, R1, ZX6R, ZX10R, GSXR 600/750/1000, CBR 600/1000 will work.

With levers you just buy the lever you need to fit the buell on the clutch, and the lever you need for whatever master you use as pretty much EVERY good lever manufacturer sells the levers seperately.

Question is.....Will it clear the firebolt fairing

It should, had a firebolt too, but did not do this mod. I would take a measurement of the steering at full cock and compare it to the master cylinder you want to use.

Have you found that the brake switch alignment works with other models as well? My buddy has an 03 XB9 and put an 05 GSXR master cylinder on and had to modify the switch to work properly. With the R6 nothing needed to be done.

[cool] thanks, if it doesn't, there's a local shop that carries several in stock, since I needed one for the Brembo rear caliper.

I thought it was recommended to use a 17mm piston front MC (6 pot), can you use a smaller/larger piston MC on the XBs?

Cheer!
