Wondering if this is a plug and play mod......or if I need to go to the dealership to have them program something. Thanks

my understanding is that if you plan to use an actual race ecu you plug it in and are good to go, otherwise you would use emc spy or another program to flash new maps to the stock ecu or you could have a dealership dyno tune everything if they have the programs and dyno but I may be mistaken on some of this info

you cant adjust it but if you go to ebr they have one for almost any mods or call them and they will leed you in the right direction. Some people have luck with reprograming the stock ecm with a ecm spy.ranger may be right that some dealers could reprogram your ecm but the dealers in my area are a hour n a half drive away and seem like they dont care about the buells anymore.

I found a "Race" ecu on craiglist for 60.00. the numbers are N1306.KA 01193 and the other number is USR3KA210. I can't seem to find out what brand it is.

hey there. i have an 01 buell lightning and just bought ecmspy cable. i was told that i could find the map?eeprom for it but i cant find anything for 01 race map.. please help..

Would like to get more info on this "For Race Use Only" module.....is it a factory Buell performance module. Thanks

First what year/model is your bike? The Erik Buell Racing ecm is your best option for plug and play with no damage to your bike. For 250 bucks you can't go wrong.Make sure to tell Michael what changes you have done Exhaust/air filter/ etc. They are on a mission building some new bikes right now.I would still e-mail Michael at EBR. Depending on the year/model a Stock Ecm would be a good option for now. ALL the dealer is allowed to do is tune a stock ecm on the dyno they don't install Race maps etc. They will install your product with no warranty. But ECM Spy and a cable with the Drivers and with some instruction and practice, Small moves of course if thats not your strong suit, might try to make sure that the numbers are correct before you plug in a used ECM that may not function properly. Hope the Craigs List item isn't a rip. good luck with that. Some of the Race only ECMs on the 04-2006 had a limited production on XB9s and Firebolts etc.good luck.

I put a race ecm on my 09 and it is GREAT. No more off the gas farts and the revised fan sequence is good for florida where i live. EBR was great in assisting me. My bike has a Jardine RT-1 and a K&N filter and breather reroute. I am a mechanically inclined person but computers are my weakness so getting a true plug and play was worth the $250!

The the ecm I got off craigslist (older guy, was parting out the bike, he just wanted the motor for a chopper he was building) was off a 2000 lightning, it says "For race use only" and says its made by VDO Control systems inc. I did install it on my 2002 X1 lightning with V&H exahaust and K&N intake system. Seems to be running pretty good.......I guess I just want more info on where it came from and what exactly it does, something I can't seem to find.

I have a 2000 s3t thunderbolt with DDFI...does anyone know If I can still get a race ecm for this and where?

Race ECM is a plug and play thing assuming you purchase the right ECM...I.E. for the correct model/type Buell.

You can do a TPS reset but you need ECMspy...it is really easy. If you don't have ECMspy then just make sure to set your idel to about 950 rpms and then ride the bike for about 40 miles...this will allow the ECM to re-learn/adjust for the new fuel/air flow and then it will adjust accordingly...then when you start the bike again you might have to adjust the idle once more...

Hope this helps,

Jon

I noticed my fan stopped working except when i stop my bike even when its super fucking hot, is that because i used a custom map with ECMspy and TunerPro? Will my fan start to work again if I get a EBRECM????

Well, that is one of the times it is supposed to run so the fan is working. The other parameters are probably something to do with your custom map (which lines up with my comment on your rant thread).

I saw that and thats why im asking this, im to assume Octopus didnt like the fan to run because I go a map from him, or my bike just has the temp set so high that i just havent gotten it hot enough yet, but its been HOT!!! In traffic at 100 degrees stop-n-go shit and no fan, but like i said when i turn the bike off it kicks on so i know the fan works. I just wonder if its turned off or if its a tunerpro custom map ecmspy thing ya dig?? :)
