Race Fuels

I throw it in now again ($6 gallon). I can feel a difference in the way it runs, better and smoother.
When you read the manual it says don't use race fuel or additives but then says if the fuel you use is giving you problems use a higher octane.
I haven't seen or felt any bad results from using it but again i don't throw it in all the time.

maybebuell,

A friend of mine ,two time national hil climb champion, Tim Frazier uses the same type of valves in his (alchohol) hill climb harley. I think the factory valves will be just fine with a little 100 octane, true it may run a little on the lean side, but once in a while will help control carbon build up.

Your bike will not gain any performance unless you have installed higher compression pistons, etc which require a higher octane fuel. The higher the octane, the more resistance to burn or prevent knock. Your engine will run the best when the octane of the fuel is only slightly grater than what knock will occur at.

Most of the race fuels I used in my Evo VIII burned richer under the same fuel trim, but anything that is more ethanol based will have a stiochometric burn rate closer to 9.0:1 where gasoline is 14.7:1

from what i read to high octane will cause carbon build up not the other way around....not that it runs cooler its burns a little slower exposing more cyliner wall as the piston starts down creating more heat...and heat is a killer
