I've been thinking of runing racing fuel in my 03 XB9S? 110 octain will be what I have close to me.. not going to be runing all the time just every other fill up. you think that this will harm the the bike?[confused]

prolly wont harm anything but it wont do ANYTHING for your bike with stock motor... your more than wasting your money... you will actually lose horsepower...

now if your going to the drag strip and planning to beat the crap out of it and mix a gallon of it in with a full tank of premiuim just to raise the octane to say 95 or 98 then it might help out with knocking a lil under full load all the time...

I ran it befor but I never felt any differance.. just wanted to know if it would harm the motor. Thanks for the info.

i got a 99s3, so maybe different? i have been thinking about this too. i usally run plan 93, i got 112 one time and the bike run like ****. maybe it needs to be tuned to it? but are you really gonna gain anything on a stock motor, not much. i got the ecm spy to work so i gonna try to tune it and see what happens. also has anyone run e-85?, some racers are running it burns cooler thus keeping motor cooler. they have to increase the fuel by 20% ruffly, so would the injectors flow that much? mileages would go down tho

. also has anyone run e-85?,

There was a guy that tuned his bike down in texas that made a post not to long ago on here sorry i cant find it tried using search, i wanna say the title was my bike is an alcoholic

Running higher then the mfg recommended octane fuel will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help your performance and is most likely going to make the bike run worse.

Cool article

Higher octane gasoline is harder to ignite, and burns cooler. Unless you have seriously modified your engine to increase compression then don't run race fuel in it.

Without racing heads you're wasting your money, besides you'd want hardened valve guides and such or else you could possibly do damage.

I thought in the manual it says 91 or higher. Ran 100 a couple of times and didn't notice any defects. Actually thought it ran better.

a few points higher on octane rating wont hurt anything... but if your bike calls for 91 running 110 will prolly hurt your mileage/Horsepower rating.... and could do damage to the valve train... i have a 1250 kit on my bike with shaved heads and higher compression pistons and im still able to run premium pump gas no problem....

i will run a half gallon or so mixed in with a half a tank of premium when goin to the drag stip tho sometimes... basically i go by if im going to be beating the crap out of it all nite with addes compression ill want a touch better gas than what it reccomends... ive never had any problems...

Don't run e-85!!!! It "eats" certain gaskets, hoses ect... I remember someone on here said they modified there bike to take it and loved it. I remember another guy who didn't and had bad fuel leaks or engine damage. I can't remember wich one. Anyway yea mix in a little 110 or just buy a bottle of octain boost. Any more isn't good

Wouldn't it be easier to run 91 or 92 like the mfg recommends?

Just a thought.

If the bike is running fine (not knocking or suffering from pre-ignition) you are gaining absolutely nothing.

I realize that I probably sound like a dick, and I apologize for that, but you pretty much missed the entire point of the thread.
its not good for our bikes.
it wont do ANYTHING for your bike with stock motor

And you said it yourself:
I ran it befor but I never felt any differance.

I am the 3rd owner of my bike and I was told that the first owner had work done to the motor. the guy that I bought it from didnt know what he did but, I'm think head work. The bike dosn't have a racing ECM so Im thinking he didn't map it out to the work he had done. Getting one this week so Im hoping it will help out. I have everthing to re-map my ECM but I cant get it to work so thats why I'm buy the EBR ECM. And I dont think your being an ass and I didn't do the math for the octaine.
