I'm over 6' tall and would like to raise the bars on my XB12s at least 2". It looks as though there's not much EXTRA in the wiring or cables. Was wondering if anyone has raised the bars and how much before I have to rewire the thing. AND does anyone know a part # for longer cables ie: will extended sporster cables work

I don't know if sporty cables will work, but Uly cables will. Unfortunately I do not have the part #.

Uly cables are significantly longer than the S cables. But, depending on what type of bars or risers, your stock cables may work just fine. I have some risers (fat bar conversion) on mine, and kept the stock cables--my bars are wider as well, and still there is plenty of cable for it. Your best bet is to find bars or risers you like, then see if it will work.

You can go 2" with stock bars.. Here's 1" with much wider bars..

I haven't taken the bars off yet, I've been told theres a dowel pin in the switches, and that most people just "break" it off. ???????

Hey ... just thought of some thing ... what are you doing for a brake line ???????

Yea, I filed mine down or you can drill a little hole... It clamps on very tight, no need for that pin. I have a break line. Just can't see it in the pic.

I think you'll be fine. I did a 1.5" Diesel Motor FatBar Riser and ATV full rise fat bars and my SCG lines worked fine after I re-routed them.

Thanks guys. The case slider set it from T-rex racing. Very nice machining and finish.

To the OP: that's nearly 4" of total rise/pullback added to the factory bar position w/SCG lines. Along with the 2" drop pegs this bike could not be more comfy.

Sooooooooooo ... are the SGC cables longer that an S
and ... what about the frt. brake line ??????????

I believe the S cables to be longer but am not sure. You can see in my pic how much slack there still is in the brake line. This is with no fork compression too.

I used a cr brake line on mine and it's much longer.

with regards to that pin, I wouldn't suggest filing it off (especially on the throttle side), if you undo the screws you shouldn't break them. they really aren't that easy to break.

S should theoretically be longer than Scg, but I believe they are the same length (the line looked too long on my Scg). Again, you will not have to worry about the brake line length with "only" 2" of rise.

You can either grind the pins off, or drill new holes in your new bars (provided they aren't Buell bars and have the holes already properly located). Seems pretty basic, but I guess i need to state that you can't use controls with the pins on bars with no holes--they won't clamp down.
