Hey guy's, dam I was just splitting lanes when the lights went out.
I have a 2009 XB12r. Now the bike will not fire. I charged the battery and put about 1.7 gallons of gas in. I have tried to cycle the bike on maybe 10 times and even leaned the bike on the left side.

Any ideas?

if ur voltage regulator/stator are damaged ur battery cannot be charged. if it clicks then the battery/starter is good. look into the fuses too.

Check ur fuses, I did the same thing on sat and blew the 10 A fuse to the fuel pump. Note to self, don't do this again....

Has to be the fuse... Mine has blown twice on my '09.
Why did your fuse blow? Just replacing fuses does not solve the issue. The fuse is there to protect a component from getting fried.

if you run a tank ( any kind car, truck or bike ) compleatly out of fuel you run the risk of blowing a fuse. Tanks with internal pumps use the fuel itself to cool the pump and keep it from over heating. With our bikes the tank gets muck hotter than a normal car or truck due to the location and the nature of our air cooled engines. With the normal heat made by the pump and the added heat from the empty tank the pump is now working too hard and pulling too many amps...... in turn it pops a fuse.

did your check engine light come on? if so, I would recommend checking the stator/voltage regualtor. My old XB9 died on me just after my check engine light came on, it turned out to be the stator.

do you have action what so ever with your bike? do you have lights or anything? about a year i was out riding for 8 hours with a buddy . i was on the highway coming home when i started to notice my lights getting dimmer and dimmer. it finally got to point were the bike started to sputter and running rough. i got it in my truck and back home where got it on a charger. i started to make sure no plugs had come loose . mainly the staor to regulator wire. and with the problem still existing i replaced the regulator and that fixed the problem.

Thanks everyone, It is the fuse indeed! Came home tonight, tried the fuse and boom it works~ Great explanation freak2180, I think your explanation is dead on. I can't tell you how relieved I am.

On another note. I was saved on the side of the road by a gale that works at goodwill for $8 an hour meanwhile about 1000 other drivers let me rot. She drove me to the gas station (about 7 miles round trip) and waited to see if my bike started, followed me while I tried to bump start, and stayed until my dad came with the pick up. There are some good people out there.

By the way, after the "F" trip starts you have exactly 25 miles. 26 will be a real bitch:>

I'm just glad I could help out....... well at least shed some light on the fuse issue. Something else to keep in mind is that if you have run out of fuel and popped a fuse once ...... you run the risk of it happening again ...... possably with a small amount of fuel left ( say when the light comes on, but before your compleatly empty). fuel pumps are not ment to get that hot and once they have .... a small amount of damage is done ..... repeated occurrences just keep shortening the life of the pump. This is why I never let my truck drop below a 1/4 tank and always fill my bike before or as soon as the light comes on. When going on extended rides I always look up the route I'm takeing online or with my gps on my phone and look to see where the gas stations are .... this tells me when and where I need to look for a station before I ever turnout of fuel. Just think of your bike as your child ..... you wouldn't deprive them of food and water till they passed out would you ?

Like they say, your mileage may vary. I got around 40 when my light came on. I found a station before it died thankfully.

Ya, you can bet I will not push the gas thing to hard next time.
I can not garentee it though, it's kinda like when you find your self puking in the toilet after drinking to much, you always go "never again, please never again" as you pray to the porcelain gods.
