Every time one of you post a pic of your Buell 1125 I can't help but daydream. I'd even take an 1125r in red, white or black. The problem is that I have a kid on the way and my wife is giving me all that **** about, "your son needs a dad", and won't let me get another motorcycle. Does anyone have a solid comeback for that?

keep your XB pristine while you ride the 1125 so when he turns 16 you can give him the XB and take a father/son road trip to homecoming or some other buell event.....its bonding time!

and thats coming from me who is 19....i wish my dad had a buell and would have gone with me last year to homecoming.... [sad]

No, it is hard to argue with a loved one about the safety aspect of motorcycle riding. They really have to just understand the love that we have for the motorcycles and the riding itself. It took me years to get another motorcycle after my kids were born. They are 19, 12 and 10 now and I guess its ok for me to ride?! I dont guess they need a dad anymore!?

Anyway, on the other hand, you can get run over crossing the street. One just never nows...Hope you can convince her and good luck with the new baby.

Agreed, thats always the way my arguments seem to go, about motorcycles anyway. I always end up tell her not to drive to work cause this could be "the day". But if you live ur life that way we would never do anything in life. Their is a risk in each and everything we do anymore.

But as 03 said its hard to argue with a loved one about something you know is dangerous as well. Good luck with this subject and congrats with the new baby.

gear up big and let her know how important safety is, follow up with a life insurance policy.

but like 03firebolt9r said, you could get run over crossing the street. when its your time to go its just time to go. it will happen on two wheels 4 wheels or just walking down the hall to get a glass of milk.

My wife pulled the same crap about my boys needing a dad and lectured on how dangerous motorcycles are. At the time I worked in an industrial gas plant that could of blown up at any time so it was really no argument on her part . Now I have 2 XBs and my 9 and 6 yr old boys are just as big Buell nuts as I am. My wife now enjoys the fact that the boys and I share our interest and enthusiasm for the Buells. :)

I'm 42 w/2boys and they love to go riding with Dad.Tell your wife in a very very nice way you rode bikes before her and your going to ride bikes with her.Your kids will love sharing your passion with you!Good luck! P.S.when time comes and take your kids dirt riding take wife let her relax in sun and have a big picnic,She will love you for it!!

I want to turn my xb9r to a 1125. I am in the worx now. Will post pics when done. Approx time is 2 years. LOL!

figure out a way it would save you money like your gas money to & from work, and she could use tthat money for something she wants,
or just bite the bullet and buy one without her knowing , yes she will get pissed and you might have to sleep with the 1125 or doghouse for awhile then do something extra extra nice for her to get her over it.

disclaimer ; I nor my alter Bueller ego will NOT be held responsible for any actions taken against you or your buells or other family jewels for following my crazy bueller advise!

buy more life insurance too so the kids and her are taken care off greatly if the crazy cager monkeys get you or throw poo or other objects at you or if you become if possessed by a Speed DEMON !

I did the exact same last year (day dream) about the 1125 cr , then spring came. Put the xb up for sale and was shocked the very next day somebody gave me every dollar i had into it !! So I was standing with a wad of money in my hand and no bike ,or even have a clue if there was a cr around to buy. By luck one was for sale on this site. I had to make a 10 hr drive (including return), 2 border crossing, and 2 sets of customs guards. It was totally worth the time. Sweet deal ,sweet bike. Back to Buellxb asking for a good come back for his wife. I would say nothing. If this is your passion then it is meant to be, maybe not today, but in time you will be riding a CR!! Look at all the info and awesome members you have to help when the time comes. :)

DUDE !! your BUELLXB , you don't need an excuse or case to get an 1125 ! you created this AWSOME forum for us to share our passion and your entitled to have the Buell you want ! Just saying . [smirk]

I've worn my wife down over the years ,I guess. I want to get something bigger for both of us to ride , but I don't want to give up my Buells. We were looking at cruisers and touring bikes and she says don't trade itin you love that bike (1125r). I told her that I wanted something for her to be comfortable on and she told me she would suffer for a while until I got the 1125 paid off to buy some thing else. Shes great. I guess what i'm saying is that your wifes perspective will change over time. She will see keep working on her.
