im currently modding my new bike and i cant stand the "cheese grater" but also cant afford the over priced rear fender and tail light kits. ive seen a few made from the stock tail cut down, but just a picture. please some one do a write up on how to cut the stock tail and tell me how to mount my turn signals to the modded tail . thanks.

buellxb members are so helpful and i always know i can count on yall to help me out.

Ok Porc rab...
The 'cheese grater elim' isn't quite as difficult as you may think. Take the taiil section casting off and flip it over. use a hacksaw, dremel, angle grinder to remove all the excesss metal. Follow the line under the tail light for a guide. The key to this mod is haaving trust in your own abilities and being patient enough to achievve the results expecred. You can do it!
Cheers!:D

here's a post to mod I did last weekend, if u don't want to go the route of the one MickD posted above, I went with a longer horned looked, if you need a right up let me know i'll take some better pics and see how I can help ya

klan. very nice look. different and very well done!

thanks alot. going to work on this tonight or tomorrow maybe. ill post pics when im done. maybe take some pics along the way for others to refer to in the future :p

i used 1mm thick slitting discs to cut with, the indicators are motrax,ok but not what i wanted really.i think it took 3hours ish including spraying, drying and re-installing!,i used something called pj-1 to spraypaint it (fast drying).

cheers

well i did it :D
i also did a tail paint job.
i did what you said ridndude, used the hack saw then dremel with rotary saw, the went over it all with a file then sanding block and paper.

painted the tail and and side rails with rustoleum black primer and tomorrow will light sand and finish it with rustoleum professional grade flat black. im pretty satisfied with it so far, not quite as clean as the one above but still looks good. ill post pictures this weekend.

thanks alot guys
