How do I remove the rear header without tearing the bike in half?

There has got to be a trick to it.

Guess there is no trick.
I was wondering this so I could ceramic paint the headers.
I wish the search feature was more exact with my keywords.

It's not easy. You'd need a lift or a way to secure the front end, pull off the muffler, jack the bike up some, remove the rear wheel, then drop the swingarm by taking out the shock bolt on the swingarm. From there, you should be able to get an extension, swivel and 10 mm socket in there to remove the nuts and take the pipe off. I'd also remove the O2 sensor prior to loosening the header pipe.

On second thought, were suppost to get rain the next 3 days, and if it only takes around an hour, I could have this all done. I might stab it.

Thanks for the help!!!

I have a set of wrapped header I have been trying to sell.

so is this for the 1125 or the xb? its in the 1125 topics?
i've done it heaps of times on my 08 1125r
take the muffler off, support the bike underneath
remove rear wheel, remove rear shock, undo o2 sensor
let the swingarm hang down making sure it misses rear brake lever or you'll scratch the swingarm (i know)
then with various 1/4 drive extentions, wobblers etc you can get to all the nuts, once they are undone you can rotate the header until it comes out, it sometimes seems impossible to get out, then it just falls out, then you wonder how does it go back in?:)
simples really:)

Yep, 1125r![up] Beautifully wrapped headers though!

I took it apart like the links above show. Sure seems like alot to mess with for 4 bolts.[down]

Anywho, headers are off and painted, everything is hangin up in the garage dryin over night now, Tomorrow we will put it all back together. Wake-n-bake! Well after work anyway.;)

Well she is all back together, so far so good, no scratches. Too late now to bake it, gunna have to be tomarrow after work.

Finished 'curing' tonight, looks good, dinged it once on the 2 screw header cover with the flash light[down], ohh well, was bound to happen, at least I dont have to tear her down to fix. Though I'm prepping myself to have to do that come winter. I read alot of people saying it dosnt last that long, I just might give her a once over when the time comes. Tomorrow morning I have to run to my parents house to work on there Envoy, bout a half hour, Thats the next test run. Not bad for $12. Here are the before and after.
