Rear Sprocket

I've seen alot of guys polishing the outside of the rear sprocket. It looks great but I'm worrying about corrosion. Do you guys clear coat over it or something?

That's the reason I haven't polished mine yet...wasn't sure if it was aluminum or not

Is anyone polishing these like a service maybe, stock for a polished trade plus cash maybe that would be cool.

if you're interested we could arrange something army, I have one on one of my spare sets of rims that is polished. I haven't used them on my bike and don't really intend to soon.

I think it's powder coated aluminum. I was just going to hit it with a flap wheel of progressively finer grits and clear coat it. Anyone done this?
