My rear tire was shot after 3K miles, Pirelli's Scorpion Diablos 180/55's. Prolly not a good choice for the back of a Uly and my bad driving habits, ok a lot of bad driving habits, and a lot of 2 up riding. Front and rear brake pads pretty thin also kept me from riding last weekend with the Dallas Bueller's.
I sold my house and packed up most of my tools, MC stands, jacks, are all packed with our stuff in a few PODs, so my plans to work on my Uly to change the brake pads and tire were put on hold.
So anyways... last Tuesday morning I was calling and pricing rear tires from shops that can remove the rear wheel. Cycle gear in Plano Tx had the best in-stock tire price but they do not remove the rear wheel to do the tire change, I explained my situation and they referred me to a mobile tire service that can meet me at the store and remove the rear wheel, mount and balance the tire for $55 labor. This same mobile service also installed the front and rear brake pads for $30 labor. This was all in a lunch hour while I watched and inspected the bike while they were working on it. I should have done this sooner and I could have been riding last weekend.
Since today I am very satisfied with the balancing of the tire, and operation of the brakes, I figured I would post my experience. Also went to a 190/50 Mich rp3 rear tire which I like much better than the 180/55 tire. Also used Harley front and rear pads and I like them better than the after market the PO had on there. The pads in the Harley box looked just like the EBC's, that I could see on the internet. I am now a very happy camper.
