Reasons for engine light

I know it is quite extensive, but does anyone have a full list of all the reasons the engine light could come on? I've looked but can't find one.

my service manual says that when the check engine light comes on, refer to the electrical & diagnostic manual[smirk]. guess i'll have to get one of those too[sad]

Wow thanks! Do we think thats all of them? I wasn't aware our bikes had a "bank angle sensor." They don't use it as feedback for a controller do they? I'm pretty confident they don't, but i don't know what else it would be used for.

oh ok, so its just a on/off safety shut off? Maybe thats why some guys (including me once) have had their bikes shut off under extremely heavy braking. There have been a few threads about it in the past.
