I know I need 7/8 but what else do I need to look for when choosing new bars. My current renthals are too narrow for standard grips. I'm on a tight budget so nothing fancy. Some old used bars are fine as long as they are not bent.

tight budget? then you best take the dimensions from your stock lightning bars and add 1.5 inches in rise and 1.5 inches in pullback. you'll be shelling out alot of coin for dual throttle cables and clutch cable if you exceed those dimensions as the stock cables will be too short.

I just got some of the bikemaster European bars. They are 30" wide, 3" rise, with a 4" pull back. Little bit lower than the stock bars on my cityx. i like em

Good point lunatic fringe. I hadn't thought about that. I have rentals now but I'm not sure which model. I'll have to look into that. I imagine something lower would be safe.

im using the carmichael bend bars from protaper. You can look up those dimensions. I had to reroute the cables a little bit but they work just fine.
