OK so sold the carbon hugger .... finally..... now to get the damn thing off...

Does the rear tire have to come off to get it off? What the hell did they have to use torx heads for....

Could have easily gotten I'm their with a angle Allen head wrench....

Please help before I destroy something or pull rear unnecessarily

Thanks Dan

am i missing something? why does the wheel need to come off to access the hugger? took mine off with the wheel on still. all i did was stabilize the front, lift the rear using a jack under the muffler. with no weight on the wheel the swingarm basically was hanging loose enough to fit a Torx and a ratchet with no problem.

I must be missing something too. Just remove the two torx-bolts and off she comes.

Christer 03-05 used a different swingarm, the hugger isnt the same

Yeah there isn't any room.... I got the left side out but the right is a different story... I'm gonna try welding a tip to a flat piece that might work

Why not just pull the tire off? Welding a tip to a piece of metal will take more effort than pulling the tire.

Agreed, just pull the rear wheel off. It's pretty easy, check your wheel bearings while its off.

Looks intimidating that's kinda why I haven't plus I weld everyday spots no big deal to me lol

Well I pulled the tire... man what a sum bitch.... 03 probably only ever off once no antiseeze on threads.... took me 2 hrs to get it out..... cleaned it up back together in 5 minutes damn just to take off a freaking fender..... someone should be kicked in the balls for that...

I'm watching the video on YouTube and the guy used a little ratchet and I'm like you gotta be f'ing kidding me.... I made a piece to loosen the bolt and I have a 15/16" wrench that I'm standing on and I weigh 230lbs and it didn't budge. It took a good spray of pb blast and a 4 foot breaker bar.....then it finally broke free... with me standing on it lol.....

I have a 4ft piece of kendorf I welded a bolt to for my axle breaking loose tool. On my 03 it was the same holy shit this is tight feeling.
