DAAAAAAAAAANG! LoL

Hey firechicken, i just did my breather reroute with a catchcan from ASB. I noticed you just ran a short piece of hose and used two filters. You get any oil mess in your airbox doing that? I am asking cause after i installed everything i blew air through the system and there is considerable resistance from the stock setup. any chance of me blowing a gasket? air goes in and out fine, but less than stock. your setup looks nice, but do you have a mess under there?

I remember reading an article years ago when the Yamaha Viper snowmobile came out, which had "Ram Air". The discussion was about ram air and the conclusion they came to in testing was it was only effective at 90mph on up. Below that the engine is sucking more air than is getting forced into the intake.

There's really no need to even get scientific with all this stuff. I mean its pretty much just common sense. To look at it I can tell that Firechickens' setup will get more air and cooler air into the engine in a given time frame. It also seems like if the filter was up inside the air duct and there was some sort of large scoop on the outside that the effect would be even greater. I used to own a ram air trans am and i fabricated a true ram air system out of aluminum which actually drew cool air from up under the car. I couldn't even use it on rainy days for fear that it would suck up water.

+1 to turboseamus' comment. I have a Viper and there is really no noticable difference in power with ram air until at least 90 (and after that its not even that noticeable) ... its too bad you can only get about 30 mph more than that. There are much better ways to gain power than ram air and its effect can be greatly overshadowed by proper intake design and other factors.
