I've been looking all day for a good thread that supplies the best results.

I need to repack my jardine but if I've got to repack it every 5k miles, I'm gonna be upset. That's like a summer and a half (maryland sucks weather wise).

What are the options everyone has done? The only option I've found is the standard repacking kit.

Yeah, I've heard of people getting dirt bike pipe repacking kits. You should probably drill new holes for the new rivets. Bajabomber was almost killed when the back of his jardine fell off. He ran it over and it bucked him 2 feet in the air.

Option? Get a pipe that doesn't require packing.

make your own exhaust, I have a jardine that I just had to repack. I plan on using a flowmaser http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-8425152/ to make my own, the only downfall is that it will be heavier, but I wont feel bad scraping it on things as opposed to cringing everytime my carbon jardine touches somthing

Barker pipes for 1125's seem to go about 10k before needing a repack.
There repack kit is $20 with there rivets.
I know some guys also do steel wool and other stuff.
I have a flow master i modded on my gf's xb had to narrow the case about 3"s to make it fit the facorty saddle and rear straps

Don't get a Jardine repack kit. Just buy some 4 stroke FMF repacking from cycle gear and some rivets from home depot. Its a pretty easy procedure.

I have a Jardien,have repacked it once,steel wool,it's not to hard,but will replace it with a D&D,no more packing and a much better sound.IMO.;)

I saw something about throwing in some baffles when repacking a jardine in order to quiet down some of the noise. Has any anyone tried this?

Im not sure what D&D uses, But if it is small glass packs (the kind with packing) it will burn out the packing..........and theres no way to repack those. I dont see why everyone is getting there panties in a wad over a simple repack job. Its just one of those things that should be expected when buying a muffler with packing. I just say buy the best packing avalible so you dont have to do it as offten.

I have no problem repacking, I'm trying to find the right combination of packing materials.

flaya564.....my respone was in now way a stab at you. It just irks me to hear people complain about somthing they knew they was going to happen. I would look into some of the newer packings that contain ceramic so they last longer. You can also contact Kevin Drum of Drummer and ask him what his "new" packing consist of and see if he can recomend a good supplier. Other than that a good quality 4stroke packing will work for the normal repack job.

repacking is fairly easy. i just did my raptor's dmc pipe (first one ever) and am getting ready to do 2 two brothers pipes, my jardine for my buell, and possibly my ltr 450's pipe too. took me about 30 mins to do my raptor's.

Doing a repack is not a big deal if you can use simple hand tools and a drill. Use FMF's blanket type packing. I used safety wire to hold it around the perforated internal baffle and the rest to fill the voids. WHile I had mine apart I installed a 1.75" reducer, it makes a good improvement to sound/performance. Plus while you have the can off the bike its easier to give it a good polishing. Also while doing all this stuff check to see if the right sidespring that holds the can onto the collector elbow is rubbing against the vertical mounting bracket. If so slip a piece of transmission hose over the spring to eliminate metal to metal vibration contact. Fear not the rivit gun!

Here ya go. Though I don't have experience with the stuff, it appears to be the shiznit. Kev from KD Fab sells this stuff for his "upgrade packing".

Get the core wrap, the spec 30 packing, and if running a carbon can get the carbon muffler shielding.

Give them a call and make sure your getting the stuff you need, make sure to measure your muffler first.

I'm going to poke around some more see if I can find anything else.

Yes, it cost a bit more then normal re-pack kits, but if it last say 10,000 miles verses 4,000 you saved money and time. I don't know, maybe the stuff last longer then that?!

There's a "Road House re-packing kit" that is double layered and uses ceramic. Haven't seen any reviews yet.

Silent Sport Premium Muffler Packing

Reading a LOT of good things about it. Some say re-packing after using this isn't needed anymore. The power core wrap and this for fill may be the ticket to eliminating re-packs. Use STEEL rivets and not aluminum, it last longer.
