I replaced my clutch lever and turn signals today. I replaced the factory TS with aftermarket arrow head style markers. The previous owner also added a 1" spacer to bring the handlebars up a bit, which I removed today. I have a few questions:

1) When I removed the spacer and put the handle bars back on, there is now a gap between the caps and the mount that wasn't there before I mucked with it. (See pictures)

I removed the bolts and retorqued them to 12 ftlbs a total of 3 times and the gap hasn't changed.

2) Before I took the clutch lever apart I measured the distance between the upper cable collar and the adjusting sleeve so I could put it back where it was pre-dog encounter... Now the clutch seems to grab (friction zone) way out from the handle bar. It used to grab a lot closer to the bar than it does now. Which way do I need to adjust the cable to get it right?

Note: I down loaded the service manual to my work computer and forgot to transfer it to my other computers.

Handle bars are ok, clutch, to lenghthen the throw of the lever, you need to shorten the sheath/jacket lenght, loosen it up a little bit

So I need to reduce the tension on the cable???

If you want the clutch action to be closer to the bars, yep loosen it up a little, the book says an 1/8th slack at the pivot/cable barrel, just a starting point, I got adjustable levers for this problem, I have thick and thin gloves I regularly ride with, I adjust the lever to match with gloves I'm wearing

as far as that gap, just make sure it looks the same on either side. Whatever the gap is just make sure it's even in front with the back.
