I need to replace the tires on my '00 Cyclone. I bought the tires tonight and decided to pull the wheels myself (no charge MT&Bal if I pull them). In order to get the front wheel off the bike I had to "split" the front caliper and leaked fluid on the floor.

Q1 - Is this the best way to do this or am I missing something?

Q2 - Is there a seal(s) that needs to be replaced when I put everything back together tomorrow?

Q3 - Any opinions on Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires???

I dont recall exactly what the front caliper looks like but u should have only had to unbolt it from the bracket on the fork and slide it off the rotor[confused]

With the caliper unbolted, I couldn't get the caliper to come off. It was loose but there wasn't enough clearance to fit the caliper around the brake rotor. It looks like you would have to do this to replace the brake pads as well. I really found this to be odd since I have done hundreds of brake jobs over the years (never on a Buell though) and never had to open a closed hydraulic brake system to swap pads and/or replace a tire....

The front pads come out the top if I remember right without taking the caliper off or at least I don't remember taking the caliper off my 98 S3 when I did my pads.

You have to unbolt the caliper then take the axle out and While holding the tire in the air push towards the engine and take the caliper off.

On my 99 X1, I took the brake pads out then unbolted the caliper to get the rim and tire off.

I just put it all back together last night... On closer inspection, I think If I took the pads out of the caliper, there would have been enough room to wiggle the caliper off the rotor...
