Maybe some of you remember, maybe not: LINK but I bought that Buell off Dale. Drove to Indy from Tulsa the weekend after I got back from Germany, and trailered her home.
She looked like this
and this
but came with a ton of extras. Buell city cover, factory select seat, race ecm, race exhaust, factory exhaust and ecm, Buell helmet, and a box of other parts. Cost? That's between me and Dale if he wants to chime in.
got her home and tore her down. Here's a list of parts
shift linkage, Harley
steering bearings, Harley
triple trees(more on those in a minute) $100shipped ebay
forks(more on those in a minute)$142shipped ebay
right clip on $15shipped ebay
front fairing stay(see my welded a fairing stay back together thread) $0
everything else, IE brake lever, turn signals et. cetra, I had laying around the gargae. It is my third Buell....
Finished.
Onto the trees and forks. With some help from Oh9bolt on tree fitment, I bought a set of 07 XB9R trees from ebay. Used the top clamp off that set, painted white, and the bottom clamp off my 04 XB12R painted white also, and the forks off my 12, lowers on them painted white, and instant frontend for the 9.
Bought a set of 56mm 1125R forks off ebay, used the 07 lower, and my 12 upper, and I now have 1125R forks on my 04 XB12R. Painted upper, lower and lower legs of the forks black. Also, swapped the welded fairing stay onto my bike and painted it black. Mine went to her bike.
Got it all together yesterday after drill, and took it for "shake out" run. Leaving the neighborhood, I got on the black top, gave her a little go juice, and the backend came around. I was in jeans instead of my leathers or street jeans, so I stuck a foot out(I know, bad idea), tried to push her up and straiten her out to no avail. We drifted across the center line into on coming traffic, I panicked and closed the throttle. She snapped upright, and thankfully, I was only going a couple mph, she managed not to highside me...
So, talked to Dale, those are the factory 10+ year old Dunlops with now, 7500+ miles on them, guess they are allowed to be rock hard lol.
All in all, the GF loves her knew bike, and I'm searching for a good deal on tires lol.
