Was riding around yesterday in the rain and was really enjoying it. Only issue I had/have is the visor. How do you keep the visor clear, Rain-X or just keep wiping it with your gloves?
If my memory serves me correctly Rain-X messes plastic up. Think it's only made for glass. But I believe there is a coating you can get for your visor to keep it from fogging as well as have water beed off
I don't like riding in the rain but when I got caught in the rain I was wiping the visor with my glove. I was thinking about some sort of wiper thingy you could attach to your helmet but I don't think it exist. The best bet would be some treatment dave_xb12r mentioned about.
Thanks midnight for letting me know its only good for glass I have some in the garage and was going to test it out tonight that would of sucked. Chris I'll try tilting my head a little next time and see how it works out. Thanks for the link Dave I'll have to get my hands on some of that raincoat stuff, sounds like it would be perfect.
The only time I've had issue with fogging is when I come to a stop but I'll open my visor a little and that takes care of it, then close it again when I start moving again.
I use Plexus Plastic Cleaner to keep my visor clean, wipe the inside and the outside then do the same thing with PJ1 fog blocker. I wear glasses besides it seems to work for a while but wears off by the next day.
I was going to suggest a good wax, with no cleaners in it (cleaning properties will scratch), that's what I used to use on my windshield before products like rain-x were available. (oh $hit, I'm showing my age)
Gotta second GatorBuell, I live in Central Florida and here it rains everyday from the middle of May to the first of October. PETF Boat Wax works the best. Plus it won't scratch your plastic. Don't use Rainex on plastic, under any circumstances! It messes the hell up out of it.
there is a product made that fits over the thumb on your glove that has a squeegy that you can use as a wiper on your visor. i dunno the name of it , but have seen it advertised in the back of motorcycle mags.
Got a 40 mile commute to work, been caught in the rain a lot. Use RainX on the outside and anti-fog wipes on the inside with no problems - just needs an occasional re-application.
