Right side air scoop??

So I just installed both left and right carbon fiber
air scoops. Looks sweet! Well went for a ride, and after the ride the fan never kicked on. It was a 45min ride that any other time would have that fan just mumming. So the question I have is, Does that right side scoop really make that much of a difference? If so that crazy. Thanks

i suspect you're correct and it does. i have a 2007 city X with only 750 miles on it so motor probably tends to get a bit warmer than higher mileage machine as things are still "tight". fan used to come on intermittently in anything above 70 degrees, and when shut off. put on factory right side scoop and fan has yet to come on in any temp riding. so yes, i would say it does make that much of a difference. IMO

when i had mine on (before it shattered last week) My fan never came on. I think in the 1200 miles i put on this year so far, it came on once for like 10 seconds. It helps dramatically. The bike needs that air.

I love the RSS look.. and want to do it myself but have heard it can cause a vapor lock somehow? anyone else heard of this issue?

I dont know why it would cause vapor lock as they have them stock on some newer models I think

That was something that came out when the RSS first came out as an aftermarket item some years ago. There have been no reported cases of that happening since it first came out.

Just wondering what size right side scoupe everyone is using? I see ASB offers a smaller one and a large one. Not to thrilled of the look of them but sounds like they work will.

^^ Buellparts.net (link at the top of the page) or I got mine at Buellsterparts.com They both carry the stock, larger scoops.
To be honest, I didn't notice anything different with my fan running (2009 XB12Scg) but it does pull SOME of the South Florida heat away from the right leg while riding, and evens up the look of the bike.

I got my Uly comfort scoop from my H.D dealer,and I haven't noticed any difference either.Same bike as Bossanova,09xb12scg, and it just seems to be a hot running engine.I have an 07 xb9city x, with no r.h. scoop and the fan comes only a fraction of the time as the xb12.

Yeah I have an 09 XB 12R and it seems like the fan runs steady! I was thinking of getting one, dont like the idea of it running that hot!

Installed my uly comfort kit (rss) from ASB last week and noticed my fan doesn't run as long after I shut off the bike. Went on the first long ride with it today and my right leg NEVER once got hot! Worth every penny IMHO !! [up]
