Same here, tons of respect for what he has done, but not an apple fan. Call it jealousy, but the markup on his products was insane.

Should be an interesting 2012 for Apple.

america has even less jobs now [sad]

He was a man not short on ingenuity that is for sure.

Price is perceived value. I guess it all depends on what you value and use his technology for. I use all apple products for my job and couldn't see it any other way so truthfully I'm glad it's not higher, or I'd pay it!

Sad!

Me too and me too. The price sucks, but shoot, I think it's worth it.

The only complaint I have about apple products are the extremely short life cycle. But again, I'm the sucker who always buys the new apple products when they come available!

They're genius!

You may be able to fault apple on their lack of modular systems, high prices, and relatively limited development opportunities on their mobile platforms. You have to respect their build quality and battery life, though. Nothing else even comes close.

HA I have had my macbook for 4 years and have used it everyday. I pack it up and take it with me everywhere. Dropped it multiple times and it still works PERFECT!! Actually better since al the updates. Iphone 4s here i come.

Thank you Steve Jobs. I hope your generous legacy lasts.

that's the funny part, mine have all worked fine too!i just always looked forward to the new generations.

and the old models sell on ebay for what i originally paid for it, so with the upgrades, the new generations are always free!

very sad news. he was one of the greatest visionaries of our time. I am interested to see where Apple goes now.

I too am guilty as one who has been willing to "pay the freight" for Apple products. I have just bought less frequently than I might have otherwise. I may not be a hard core "Jobsian," but in the back of my mind, I always looked forward to whatever was next. Godspeed, Steve.

yip, they are expensive and the software upgrades are huge, but they just work so beautifully! and they keep on going!

recently installed Lion on my 5-year old 19" iMac. that thing was nailed with huge PSDs and massive work, never serviced and still ran perfectly...

the 27" is just a beaut though...

but yip, it was quite a shock when i saw it on the news this morning (as we are on the bum side of the world...)

I would be lost without my Iphone.

Steve was a great guy but just a guy none the less. Wonder where he will donate the billions he had?

May he rest in peace. His product line could not be readily modified and thus held no interest for me. My commie coworkers loved his stuff however.

I had the iPhone 3Gs, and I will tell you the products are outdated. As soon as you buy them, there is always something out there that is a bit better. What I mean by that, is the new iPhone 4S is as good as the Sprint EVO 4G. So, the brand new iPhone is as good as a 3 year old HTC phone.

With that said, I am still a slight Apple geek. I had 3 different tablets, but I got the Ipad 2 and it's by far the best one out there. Its very reliable, and very very easy to use.

He created a brand from scratch. It's now a household brand. You don't say I'm going to get my MP3 player, you just get your iPod. And he made them "hip" and so easy to use, even a 5 year old can use them.

He will be greatly missed, he was a minimalist, and his vision did change the world.

!!!RIP!!!

As others have said, I'm no apple fan, but between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft), I believe Steve did WAY more to revolutionize computers to be personal computers. He was an extreme visionary and his work kept IBM and many other companies on their toes to compete. The computer industry lost a pioneer and an innovator, and will be missed.

You know, this just came to me...he is kind of the Erik Buell of the computer world. When they said it couldn't be built he did, and did it with style.

I'm more of an android fanboy but, I love apple computers.

He did some great things, that's for sure. I knew he was in bad shape... but, I didnt expect him to go that quickly.
